whats sad is how all these import people think they know how to drive. none of them know about power shifting.

My cars are "imports". Which race track do you want to race them on? By "drive" do you mean go really fast in a straight line for about as long as a high schooler can last during sex?

My accord's Vtec kicks in around 4-4500. You don't need a manual to dip into it either. Just stomp the gas. Let off the gas and it shifts for you. It's fun to drive too, but I think it'd be a serious PITA if I had to do all that shit with my left foot clutching this, and my right hand shifting that, and OOps I didn't let the pedal up slow enough and the engine died... FUCK that. I can do basically the same thing just by pushing the gas w/ my right foot. Maybe I'm missing the point, but yeah, I do like to talk on the phone while I drive and fuck with my iPod, etc... And yes, I can do so SAFELY. I'm not a fucking moron driver who can only pay attention to one thing at a time.
Sounds like someone has a case of the "I have no idea how to drive a stick-shift!"

My first 3 cars were stick. '90 Mustang 5.0 was my favorite one, but driving in traffic with a stick sucks balls. If you live in the middle of nowhere, then yeah I'm sure it's fun, but in the city??? FUCK THAT!

Embrace the future. Stick shifts are dinosaur technology, along with the internal combustion engine, and rear-wheel-drive hick-mobiles. Wait'll you drive the Tesla roadster. Our CEO has one of the prototypes, and said it is like nothing else on the planet.

yeah, because anybody can afford a base price of $98k for a car. The ICE isnt going anywhere for a long time. Id hardly call it dinsosaur technology either and rear wheel drive cars are hick mobiles? How old are you 3?

The Mustang is a relic...plain and simple.

A relic how? In that its Ford best selling vehicle behind the F150?

I think its time for hover crafts. Anyone remember the Super NES game F-Zero? Thats what the future is going to be like. Electric shock walls and a massive arrows that make you speed up. I can see it comming...

In most cases rear wheel drive cars corner better than front wheel drive cars. Munstangs IMO are one of the exceptions as they corner like dog doo. I don't know about the newer ones, but even if they were say 30% better than the old ones, they would still suck IMO.

Some final thoughts of my own:

More and more normal people prefer automatics. Sales reflect that. Usually it's due to lack of experience, laziness or they're in a situation with heavy traffic (however, some people just outright prefer them).

Yep, I bought a manual trans intentionally because I'm lazy and when I'm in traffic, I don't want to deal with shifting gears.

Whoops... My brain has a manual trans and I forgot to shift it.

Automatics are really quite rare here, and kinda frowned upon in a way too. So, to answer your question, no.

I only want a manual transmission option if the car is rear wheel drive. I like the shifter being directly mounted to the transmission.

The Corvette C5 is RWD and the shifter is not directly mounted to the transmission. If it were, you'd have to reach back into the trunk every time you had to shift. Just because it's RWD doesn't mean the shifter will automatically be directly mounted.

Looks like it's directly bolted to the transmission to me

This is the IRS w/ the transmission in the rear:

Basically, it creates a transaxle with the way it's setup. It ensures better front and rear weight distribution.
