So tomorrow night's a big night for Me and Matt. Big night.

No, we're not going on a tag team date with Scarlett Johannsen.
And no, we're not getting hitched in a civil union. :emofag: :grim:

Tomorrow night, my fellow Eggy friends, for the first time, Matthew and I will unleash dual Mod50 firebreathing fury upon our audience. :rawk: :rawk:

Our fans have been very patient with me. They've suffered through my sub-par sonic setup for a while now. Distortion boxes into budget amps, using two small 15 watt combos in tandem, all sorts of nonsense. But tomorrow night, the Court Tavern in New Brunswick NJ, will hear the sounds of all-tube glory like never before. Clean chords and arpeggios from the BMAN and SL, and a combined overdriven auditory onslaught from EG3/4 and EG5. Massive.

This club has seen some famous faces go thru it, but for the most part, it's indie rock college bands. Nonetheless, its' an awesome, dirty basement rock and roll club.

We'll report back on Sunday with some pics and hopefully video!

Awesome!!! I'm sure you are pretty friggin pumped up about this.

Gino and I have to wait until January 2nd to unveil our Egnater Wall of Destruction on the minions. Needless to say, I'm excited.

Rock the house guys!!!!! Unleash the fooking fury!

... And then get married in a civil union if you really want to.

Really looking forward to the pics.

Michael

Good luck on the gig and definitely post videos!

I got my other bandmate into the rebel, and now he's thinking about a mod50

Looking forward to hearing the report and seeing video.
I'm willing to bet the guitar sounds will be exquisite.

That's gonna be some tonal heaven man :). I think it's gonna kick some major bootie! You must post pics / videos / mp3 clips for sure, or I'm gonna send over some of my other "Joisie friends" who happen to be Italian to kicka your asses :).

If they come to the show their asses will be kicked (tonally of course)!!!

you guys (my Egnater Brothers) are gonna hate me for this but.......

having two eggies on stage, even if they are different models
through all the live stage sound going on, kinda sound/vibe similar (not nessesarily bad) as oppossed to using two different excellent manufactuers rigs, which may yield something better..... like the benefit of mixing two different model 12" speakers in a 2X12 cab.

We play with two guiatrist using two eggies every week for a year now and
many times throughout the evening you just notice that they just resonate/vibe the same, even with different heads modules, tubes and guitars. The speakers are the same on both sides which may be the point of too much similarity.

Any thoughts?

as a guitarist, if I could only afford one rig I wouldnt want anyone ever to be denied an eggy.

I haven't tried running two mod50s at same time (I wish!), but during practice I used my mod50 and my bandmate used the rebel and they worked well together. What kind of guitars do you and your bandmate use? He was using an alder strat with a maple neck, while I was using a dual humbucker mahogany guitar with rosewood fretboard. I think different style guitars/pickups are very helpful for when there are two guitars to help them separate and add up to one very big sound.

In my opinion, if both guitarists are using the same speakers and such, then you are going to get a really similar sound. Especially if they are Vintage 30s. I find that Vintage 30s really color most of the modules to have a "similar sound." Speakers like CL80s, and such really let the tone of the module come through which really will help. I think with what Nick and Matt are going to be doing, mixing an EG3/4 and a EG5, they really won't sound the same. The juicy mids of the EG3/4 and the ballsy bottom end and cutting top end of the EG5 really will mix well together and not "sound the same." It will be even more the case if Nick doesn't use Vintage 30s in his cabinets like Matt does. Throw a CL80 and a G12T75 in one cab and V30s in the other, and you're gonna get a HUGE mix.

But that's me. Guitars have lots to do with it to, as well as pickups.

I hope this isn't too off topic, but I did a really quick A/B with my caa with 2 v30s and my friends TM2x12 with the egnater cl80s and they sounded surprisingly similar (both sounded really good, and his was about half the price!). It wasn't a really extensive test, it was at loud bedroom/quiet jam kind of volume, and I think we just stayed on the same channel. I know there is an extra variable in there, the very different cab sizes.

yes both speaker sets are the GC 4x12 cabs with V30's in it. i will have to try the cl80/g12 t75different speaker sets.

also i want to get 2 -2x12 cabs set ups. Should i get the avatar 212 or a buz bomb 212 or one of each?

for the vox sound I want alnico's blues or golds or mix in one and the classic marshall sound some sort of greenback or green back mix in the other.

any suggestions for the classic marsall sound/vibe ala --ac/dc

:)

Well guys, Nick reporting back here.

Just gotta say that the first gig with dual Egnater Mod50s was a huge success, all the way across the board!!! Great sound, great turnout, great response from the crowd. It was brutally cold lastnight, hard to get people to come out so close to the holidays, and the club owner was a total douche... but I'd still say it was our best gig.

We loaded in at 8PM, for a 10PM show, and the sound guy was SUPER nice, and took a long time getting our sound right. Ran thru two songs at soundcheck and got the levels perfect. This was our best soundcheck to date, hands down.

We had a great turnout, and a great audience. 30 or our fans, and plenty of folks there to see other bands too... Even people we didn't know loved the show. Our friends and fans, in particular, said it was the best show yet.

Now onto the good stuff... the TONE.

I gotta say, the dual MOD50 rigs were awesome together. Yes, we both run V30s, but the tonal difference in the pickups and guitars and modules gave more than enough tonal difference. For me, having 4 channels was amazing. I was loving the EG3/4 for my rhythm lead. Awesome. The SL got the job done as a clean and crunch, but couldn't get quite sparkly enough. Matt's BMAN sounded ridiculous though. I'm anxious to try out my incoming TD for cleans. I think the TD/EG34 will be perfect for me.

The only complaints I have about last night: I wasn't used to the Egnater footswitch yet. Those buttons are SERIOUS. No tapping on those switches. You gotta STOMP on them. A few times, I didn't press hard enough and was on the wrong channel... hard to realize when you're running IEMs and singing at the same time.

My only other complain was that with the IEMs, I'm running an ambient mic, so I really coudn't appreciate the "tone" of the amp during showtime. I'm still debating whether or not I'm gonna keep using them. Without a proper instrumental mix from the board, I feel kinda isolated... not feeling like I could connect with the rest of the band enough. AND I didn't get to hear enough of my amp.

I've tried the IEM's and can't stand them for these reasons. The rest of my band loves them, but not me. About the best I could do is have one in and one out. I sold them.

Great about the tones though!!! Gotta love it!

I had the same issue with the SL. Sounds awesome, but not quite as chimey.

Since you're singing IEMs sound like a good idea, but for those who aren't try out some musicians ear plugs. Sure they're a bit pricey, but they sound great. It's just like turning the volume down (and you chose 5, 15, or 25 db filters) pretty evenly across the sound spectrum. So unlike regular ear plugs, you're not going to lose all your highs and mids, it just sound like you turned it down. It may not 100%, but it's damn good.

I have a set of those from Westone and I used them for the first time at this last gig. I didnt love it because I like the sound and feel of LOUD, but our drummer hits so goddman that his crash just destroys my right ear during our set so I decided to give it a go. Definitely not as good as playing without plugs, but theyre the best, most natural sounding plugs I ever used and my hearing was perfectly normal after the set. One benefit is that it is also a little easier to hear my voice for background vocals because I almost never get enough of myself in the monitors.

This was by far our best show ever. As Nick said, we had a great, NICE sound guy who let us check a couple of songs and make some adjustments to our sound. He wasn't a d1ck about stage volume either. I was running MOD 50 at full power at 1 oclock and it was sounding amazing. We had a fairly packed crowd who responded well to our set. This place was great. It was a seedy, dark, disgusting, rock dungeon. I loved it. And we were all really on. Its amazing how a great mix and great vibe can carry a show. Cant wait to play there again.

Unfortunately no one had a camera. So that was a fail. Hopefully next time.

Very cool plugs, thanks fo rthe tip about the Westones. I just found a dealer in my town. What do these run? ... big $$$?
