Great to hear about the good gig, there's really no other feeling like just killing the set and the audience getting into it!
You need to make an appointment with an ENT or a hearing center for them to make a custom mold of your ears. Mine are Westone as well, and I think on their site you can type in your zip code and they'll list places near you that you can go to. I think if I remember correctly it was something around $150 for the set. I forgot if that included the visit or not, but it's in that ballpark or maybe up to 200? A set comes with whichever filter you like, as well as a complete "block" (not musicians filter), and then you can buy the others separately. I think mine is a 15db filter and it's fine.
I had a hearing tests done and no hearing loss or tinnitus, so 200 bucks is a worthwhile investment to keep it that way. My right ear is actually a little bit messed up in that if it gets too loud, i'll sometimes hear some "crackling" because of fluid hitting against the tympanic membrane (nothing serious, it's just a little quirk doc said), so for me in ears actually make it more pleasant. They're also great for when you're going to a concert, since it sounds pretty similar without being ridiculously loud. I usually put then in for all the opening acts, but if it's one of my favorite acts then I'll take them out for them. Hearing damage depends on intensity as well as exposure length (the more intense, the less exposure necessary to cause damage), so I save those few moments for my favorite groups.
