Recently played someone else's R9 that had OX4 pickups in it and it sounded amazing. The guitar itself was awesome so not sure how much was due to the pickups. I checked out the site but not a ton of info. They basically have Low/Mid/High winds of PAF style with choice of A2/A3/A4/A5 (A4 is stock) and they have a Hot Duane (overwound with A5). Anybody have any experience or info on the humbuckers, such as DC resistance of particular winds or how they compare to others (like Antiquities or Seths)? Pricey but if I have enough info I can look for a used set.

Good info, thanks. It's the 'Low wind' part that, for lack of a better word, scares me since I typ like higher output. But your comments in those threads are reassuring. Do you remember which winds/magnets you got?

Never heard of them, but they remind me of a website I found about a year ago when I did some deep digging to find some PAF pickups. I wish that I had written down the name somewhere, but they had a similar website and really good pricing. They sound real good in their product videos.

If you ask Mark for the "Henning wind", you'll get exactly what I have.

I have a set of low winds. They are killer pickups. While they don't feel or react like a hot pickup, they don't really feel underpowered either. They have a nice bounce/compression to them that helps in the feel department since it's not going to get additional compression by slamming the front end like hot pickups do. The do fantastic under lots of gain too.

I have owned 5 sets when I go on a Paul kick. As posted they handle gain great and do not squeal. I preferred high wind neck and high wind bridge. I didn't love the Hot Duanes compared but even then they were still great.

Are these pickups wax potted?
I hate it when they squel like a pig. The Burstbuckers 1 and 2 in my Les Paul G0 Custom Shop have a great tone but under high gain the horrible squel is a nogo. Now i have the Duncan APH2 Slash and these can handle high gain much better.

Lots of folks saying they don't squeal. Gibson Burstbuckers often squeal ime. Sometimes it's just the cover though.

And FWIW, Mark said he would lightly pot it if I wanted it.

I never had issues with mine squealing either. A lot of it will depend on your room or where you're playing.

It'd be nice if he'd make some FREAKIN 53MM VERSIONS!!!
