Thinking of getting a new pedalboard. For some unknown reason, I think I might get a few responses here! ;) ;) :D :D

I like the Furman, but I DON"T need a power supply and I DON'T need the patch bay.

What I need is REAL ESTATE. The RC-50 Looper is huge, the Tourmaster footpedal is huge, the Boss dual pedals are sizable, I have things like footswitches that take up space, and of course you need room for additions.

I like the idea of putting the cables and power supply underneath- I don't need it to glow in the dark!

Something somewhat configurable would be nice- relatively easy to move around pedals. I don't think I need anything permanently wired.

I am even thinking it would be neat to have something with, say, removable wings, so if you needed everything you brought the whole thing, but you could detach the wings if you were only bringing one or two things.

Good solid construction with a good solid case or bag with storage space.

May be willing to let the Furman go relatively cheap. Seen a lot of use, but it is in good shape. PM me if interested.

What's out there? Let 'er rip!

Thanks!

 :inlove: :2thumbsup: :cheers2: \:D/

Why not make your own? Cheaper and you can make it exactly as you need it.

Maybe- I have thought of it. Not sure I would do such a good job, or that I feel like it...

Are there kits out there?

The Furman's power supply/patch bay is removable, but it doesn't open up that much space and there is no velcro on it... that maybe could be rectified...

Let me gather some more info and think it out...

Thanks!

I like my Pedaltrain, being able to bolt the PP2+ (plus an interface box and a buffer) and tuck the cables underneath the board is a neat feature that increases real estate.
Got the Pro SC, the soft case is nice for gigging locally, otherwise the hardcase looks really nice, if somewhat expensive.
It comes with 2 big bolts of velcro, too (even though it isn't very heavy-duty, but you can use dual lock instead).

Here's a (crappy) pic of my (messy) board:

I know some people don't like the fact it's tilted, but I really like it, very easy to reach the back row with it. YMMV though.

Hope that helps,
Nic

+1 for the pedaltrain.

Having the huge PP2+ underneath just frees up a lot of truly valuable real estate on the board.

I used the supplied velcro. While I wouldn't call it super heavy duty, it's not flimsy at all, and my pedals have never moved yet. If I were to go on a world tour I'd upgrade to dual-lok or something like that, but that ain't happening anytime soon!

I too, never liked the tilted idea, until I got one. And now I'm like "OK, THIS is why they make them angled..." The back row of pedals is so much easier to reach and step on.

Well, while I'm having zero issues with it with my volume pedal and MXR boxes, I can't get it to stick to my TimeFactor for more than a few weeks, and it also doesn't stay much longer on my Boss pedals. Gotta say it's pretty hot in my place (over 30°C from april to october), but I need to replace the velcro periodically on some pedals, which is an annoyance (and wasn't the case when I was using dual-lock in my pedaltray). Yet, this is my one and only gripe concerning my pedaltrain, I'm otherwise really happy with it, good investment.

Yeah, getting velcro to stick to Boss pedals is just a huge pain in the ass.

I found that wiping the rubber bottom of the boss pedal with rubbing alcohol makes the velcro stick a lot better.

Dual lock velcro is the only way to go. Regular velcro just sucks in comparison. Dual lock velcro is just the only thing I use on my pedalboards anymore. I can pick my pedalboard up by the pedals if I wanted to, and that stuff won't let go for sure!

Trailer Trash makes really nice boards and Rooster is a top notch guy to deal with. He has a few different sizes and you dont have to get the glow top. You can get a velcro top, or a hard top and wire it yourself. I love my board and it came with a decent soft side case.
Ask him if he has any blemish units sitting around and save some $$
The best board out there... IMO...

I agree. I bought one of the first few boards he built when he was in Nashville about 5-6 years ago, and it's still going strong! I've had him rewire it once since I've had it, but man...is it build like a friggin shit house!

I looked at a Trailer Trash one. It was good but a little pricey- Not out of consideration, though.

The Pedal Train looks good. I had a really tough time removing my effects form the Trailer Trash one I looked at, and I think that cuts both ways a bit. I like playing around with the effects.

I liked the tilting.

Anybody know anything about the Voodoo labs Pedal Power? Now I am thinking to get a power supply, and I understand the new Pedal Train is pre-designed for it?

Thanks!

Been using Pedal Powers for years...love them. Rooster does do custom boards also, which was what mine was.

The Pedal Train is made from metal or aliminum, right? Not wood or plastic?

What is this double lock stuff? I never heard of it. Does the Pedal Train come with it?

Thanks!

Pedal train doesn't come with it.

It's an aluminium frame. Very sturdy and lightweight.
As for the dual lock, it's a super heavy-duty velcro (not really a velcro actually, but looks alot like it):

What do people think of the Gator? Roughly same size as the Pedal Train and same price, but includes Gator power supply.

  :D  ;) ;)

Get a pedaltrain. If I didn't have the $ for a TT pedalboard, I'd most likely get the Pedaltrain stuff.

Eric

That's what I am thinking.

If I am not going to have it custom wired, would you still say the TT is hugely better? What makes the TT so much better?

Thanks!

Slide a credit card under your pedals to seperate it from the velcro... Pedal power works great!! 4 years using it now..
