This is what I'm looking at:

DOD FX40b
Dunlop DB01 Dime Cry Baby From Hell Wah
MXR Micro Amp

Good/Bad??

Also good delay suggestions would be appreciated.

Depends on how much you want to spend.

For delays the TC Nova is good for not that much coin, a littler higher priced is the Eventide Time Factor.

If you really want a sick delay look at the Tube Tape Echo from Fulltone, that thing is an absolute monster.

As far as delay goes, do you want something with multiple settings you can switch on the fly?

I own the Eventide Timefactor and Modfactor pedals as well as the TC Nova delay and reverb. The Eventides are better pedals, they sound more thick, full and warm. The TC Nova pedals are great if you want a cheaper alternatives. The Eventides are MIDI switchable so they work great with the Herbert.

Not really. I'm just getting these to play around with them, I'm not really EFX person, haven't owned one for nearly 10 years.

I just want something for Tool kind of stuff.

DOD FX40b looks like a good unit to shape the sound of guitar before it goes in, seems like Adam is using one too.
Dunlop DB01 Dime Cry Baby From Hell Wah - for crazy feedback kind of stuff.
MXR Micro Amp - I was thinking running this into Uberschall clean channel(which I'm keeping after all), basically I just need a clean boost, I don't know if this is a good idea .
Delay - again for Tool sort of crazy stuff

Hey, i own some of the pedals that adam jones owns so for delay you should go for a boss dd-3 or a vintage ibanez delay i have the dd-3 and it's great. For wah i have a 535q cry baby...get one i'm telling you. I also have a ge-7 for eq but adam jones uses the DOD for eq so eitheir way it's fine. Now the trick to get his sound is the order of the pedals in the signal chain becouse he fucks up the order and if you don't have the effects like delay and flanger and eq in his order it's hopeless. So...

Hope i helped out....

I appreciate the input. I'm not really trying to copy Adam's sound or anything, I was just referring to the type of music.

I'll look into 535q & DD3 too, thanks.

What's the difference between DDs? 2, 3, 5 ??

OK - so DOD FX40b is on it's way

Let's see what we do next.....

Hey, what vintage ibanez??? Is it an analog delay?

No.. it's digital delay. I think it's a dl-10 Ibanez digital delay he used on early days (not easy to find) but now it's a dd-3 boss.
I don't know the diference between the dd-series, i know the dd-3 it's the more used among all people and the dd-5 and 6 are more expensive and have a reverse option i think.

For someone who doesn't want to copy adam jones and has all those pedals in mind a Diezel and a LP Custom one can wonder.... :D

My diezel arrives tomorrow and my next purchase is going to be a SD JB for my LP

Well, you have lots of options then. I'd check out an EH Deluxe Memory Man. Analog goodness with the capability to do some crazy modulated delays. It would be hard to beat for what you're describing. There is a reason so many still swear by that pedal.

I've also heard good things about the Diamond Memory Lane, T-Rex Replica, and Boss DD-2.

Thanks guys!

Just won a 535q on eBay too.

I'm really skeptical about digital delays, I don't like the idea of AD/DA processing of my guitar sound. Maybe I should just stick to adding them ITB? What do you think? Will pedal or outboard FX unit of this level be better than inboard plugs?

Just got FX40b. Man, I've never heard Uberschall so chunky, this thing is awesome, you can shape pretty much any Duncan pickup out of SH4. It has a little bit of it's own vibe, but good vibe. The only drawback is that it's a little noisy, but not enough to bother me.

Where are you running the Dod? on the loop or in the front of the amp?
I have a boss ge-7 but haven't tried it on the loop with my diezel and in the front of the amp it gets too harsh for my taste. Also has a little of noise but it's normal on eq. pedals.
Right now i'm too busy trying out the einstein

I run it in front of the amp. It has some sort of harshness, but I dig it.

Here is Uber with DOD

It's like I bought a new amp. :)

Oh, that one was with Magneto on it, here is one without

I wanted to get this out of Uberschall for months, damn DOD did it for me

:rawk:

Get one, I'm telling you!!!

535q - another great buy. This thing doesn't seem to have bypass, that's kind of not cool. I don't care because I just need it for recording, but this could be a problem live.

MXR M-108

This one is cleaner than FX40B & adapter didn't add any noise, which is great, I hate changing batteries. Great shaping tool. DOD unit has it's own cool vibe. M108 is as clean as it gets I believe, works great for clean boost. Great discovery!

I own that MXR 10 band EQ, too. Great sound. But runs on 18 V, which allows more headroom but means another adapter on your pedal board.
