Pickup for LP with big bottom

Duncan 78 model 9K A-2 nice bid bottom but with some greasy sag to it and it's hot PAF, great harmonics, nice clarity, nice highs and grinds when you dig in

Duncan Whole Lotta Humbucker 8.78K Short rough cast A-5, a little warmer than the 78 with a bit more body, lows are nice and big but still with a bit of sag, nice highs, also grinds when you dig in.

If you still want hotter but not Duncan Custom 14K hot where the mids tend to dominate:

Duncan SH-6N 12.6k-13K Ceramic, is more balanced more PAF like with less mid emphasis than the SH-5 custom, nice perscussive lows but you know it's high output pickup.

I have not played the Jalen FW but the clip sound like what you describe: And you can't beat the price. I do have a Jalen Pinnacle and the build is on par with Seymour Duncan.
Jalen Fair Warning: Bascially a very early Duncan JB with a short rough cast A-5 which warms it up some, big bottom like a JB.

Fair Warning P/U Wound to ~15.5kΩ with mismatched coils and a short rough cast Alnico 5 mag.
i have almost the opposite experience with most of these PUs.

78 is actually pretty lean on the lows and pretty bright, which you wouldn't expect from the specs.

WLH also has reduced bass compared to a SH-1 for example.

Custom line i agree. big low end, except for maybe the SH-11.

SH-6n/SH-7 is pretty agressive and tight. not a particular huge low end. Hell it works a a neck PU!

rest i don't know.

Muddy mess in an LP.

SH-5 is the one.

"Anyone have ideas for a bridge pickup with big bottom end? Not interested in it being tight- would actually prefer some sag. Guitar is already bright and tight so looking to add some cushy beef to it. High gain Hard rock type tones into Marshalls. Medium to higher output preferred but I like low output pickups too so whatever will work"

I like the Custom alot, big bottom it is not though. JB has more bottom than Custom. He wants big bottom, Tone Zone is similar toned to JB with alot more bottom end. It would be too much for me, but not every guitar responds to the same pickups.
Yeah, the Tone Zone has way too much bottom/low mids. It's too much for basswood, let alone mahogany. I hated that pickup in an Ibanez Prestige. I changed it to an EVO.

An SH-6 maybe, or an Aldrich?

I ran the Tone Zone in my old RG570. Sounded great in that. Sh-6 and Sh-5, too me bottom ends are pretty similar…SH-6 has more gain and treble in everything I tried them in.
I put a Tone Zone in a buddies LP Studio and he loved it. He hated the JB. I was the opposite. 😎

JBs can be tubby in mahogany. I'm not a fan.

Maybe a Super Distortion?

Duncan Custom will lean out the lows in a Les Paul...Have plenty of experience with this
well, it's all relative. it's not very mid forward so the bass (and treble) is dominant. it's far from having the most bass absolute.
For example the SH-6 has more mids and therefore is a less bassy sound, but absolut it might have more bass than the SH-5.
Dimarzio has more of the really fat ones than duncan...
Invader is one of the duncan exceptions, but i never owned it myself...

These are just my experiences of these pickups through a Marshall amp which the OP was asking about. His experience may vary.

I've tried a Dimarzio Tone Zone and Steve's Special.....The Tone Zone had a big bottom along to the point where it was muddy and I didn't care for it but it seems to work for some. I tried the Tone Zone because it was said they are the closest P/U to the EBMM axis pickup but I didn't think it was anywhere close.

Maybe the Dirty Fingers clone will work for him.

i do not like fat pickups, so i am not an expert on those. i normally like the skinny ones.
So no doubt i like the 78, SH-6n/SH-7 and WLH more than the other suggested PUs, but i don't find them bass heavy so i guess they might not be fitting for the OP.

There is a difference between a nice well defined bottom end response that is pleasing versus BASS HEAVY and it is all subjective to the listener which ultimately has to be the judge of what that definition is.

totally agree.
Me too. That's why I believe the Tone Zone would be a big no go for me. TOO bass heavy, and messy.

You want bass heavy? Buy an EQ for the FX loop, and go to town. I'd prefer to have tightness and clarity in a pickup, and if I want bigger low end, bump some sliders on an EQ pedal.
