I was thinking the VHII bc it was a vintage style pickup. I’m not really looking for the VH sound per se.

That being said the Custom 78 and Jalen pickup sound amazing would sound great in one of my superstrats. The Fishman Fluence Classics seem awesome as well. I’ve used the Super Distortion before and it’s great but not the sound I’m looking for.

I’m more looking for a set of humbuckers that can be coil split and sound appropriate in a Les Paul. I do like the Aldrich pups as I already have them in another LP. Maybe that is the answer ? I will look into the Muskrat and BK Crawler as well.

I am not into modern metal. I love old school metal like Priest and Maiden and the 80s stuff or NWOBHM. I spend most of my time working on scales, solo technique and just about anything that is shred but I don’t like actual face value shred. I like Neil Zaza, Andy Timmons, SRV, Guthrie and Hendrix. So I like a bluesy tone but I like to rip as well.

Thanks for the recommendations so far ! Very helpful !
DiMarzio SD seems made for Priest, Maiden, NWOBHM. The Dual Sound is 4 conductor for coil splitting and series/parallel. Jimmy Page wiring would get you all of it. Plus maybe phase flip with a mini toggle ? That’s A LOT of tones...

Gibson Dirty Fingers (old one) is great too, as is the 500T.

IMO it's hard to find humbuckers that sound great when split, usually I do series/parallel instead, so if you dig the Aldrichs split that's half the battle, again IMO.

In my experience the higher output humbuckers typically split pretty well. I have a '03 LP standard LE with Aldrich pickups and they both split really well. I have since changed the pull pot to do parallel wiring as I wanted noiseless. I do slightly prefer the tone of them split, but its not big enough to be worth the noise.

On my '73 LP custom I have suhr thornbuckers. Its a really thick and mean sounding guitar and the thornbuckers work great. Since they are lower output, I went with the push pull pot to switch to parallel wiring, which is nice if I want to lean out the guitar. I used to have an aldrich and rio grande BBQ in the bridge of this guitar and they were just too hot for my taste in this guitar.
