I think Nero needs to start by banning everyone arguing in this thread

I don't know what should be, but I can tell you this: live music basically stopped for political reasons last year. We are at war. The question is, with whom, and for what purposes?

I will admit I enjoy the board much more not being drawn to check the Off-Topic forum. That said, good luck and best wishes everyone. These are challenging times. Let's try not to make it too important and keep the mood up.

i don't live in USA and the offtopic forum was one of the most informative places for me on what is really happening there, even the virtual fights show me the actual moment you guys are living there in USA, its really sad the offtopic is no longer a source of reliable stuff for all of us
Same here mate, 100%. It was invaluable to me and I learned a lot.

Monkey Man should be the Off Topic mod.
I would love that. :inlove: I did think of offering many times. Just never got 'round to it.

Importantly, I know the difference between ribbing / one-upmanship and legitimate threats. I'd enforce what Steve kindly called "The Nicky Rule" - pretty much anything goes as long as physical threats and porn (proper porn, not freakin' underboob) are avoided.

That way everyone should be happy - new posts no longer appear under the general "New Posts" link, so it's all hidden from the general forum populous and those who don't want to participate or read. For those who do indulge, they'd have the choice of getting into the fray or simply posting politely. I was impressed by how-fairly the boys who took part in the ribbing treated those who didn't. With very few exceptions, if you went in politely, you were treated accordingly. The dudes who didn't play by this unwritten, "golden rule" were banned in short order, which wasn't surprising 'cause they were unhinged and had no idea of how to reign their own behaviour in. BlackSG91springs to mind, banned in April.

Anyway japetus, thank you very much for the show of faith. I really appreciate it brother. :cheers2:

Just want to point out that the OT forum also shows:
1) Most people in the USA are not like the ones posting in the OT...illustrated by the fact that most members here do not participate in it and many think the stuff that generally goes on there gets very childish (illustrated in this thread by posters quickly resorting to name calling/etc.).
2) It's just a very few, small minority that are the ones "thou dost protest too much" for lack of a better phrase.

Most of us are just normal people like anywhere else on this planet. Rig Talk OT doesn't seem to rep that.

Good point mate, although IMHO the same could probably be said for many OT subforums.

It's always going to be the minority that takes a keen interest in such things (politics in this case) that'll participate. Having said that, it looks to me like this minority has grown quite a bit these past few years as things heat up internationally. The blowback to the woke / PC / cancel culture looks to me like it's probably the main driver responsible.

The crybaby's , get what they want.
I grew up in a large family , going on trips with 7 kids was a lot of fun. I have one brother that would kick and scream if things didn't go his way. Naturally we all catered to him. 6 of 7 kids could agree on something, but if one screams the loudest the others just cave in.

MMMMMMMMM Politics

I could handle it blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back (the other on my peepee), I reckon.

I’d would have no problem being a moderator for OT and political threads. Only stuff I would not put up with is name calling. Rarely would I resort to serious name calling. Maybe calling someone a dummy or idiot, but outside of that, I’d never resort to some of the name calling I’ve seen. Outside of that I’d let it fly. As for banning, I would have a tier system. Starting at 1 day then double it for each new ban infraction. Sooner or later they’d get the point. No need to permanently ban someone.

Just got to /pol/ and dig. The stuff you need to know is in there.

As for Cooties, this is a friend’s God-tier breakdown for all of us. Let’s stay healthy and rock on!

Also guys, this thread has been pretty chill. Maybe it can be the politics and other stuff mega thread if everyone uses polite and simple good manners from here on out? That’d be a great way to honor the host and still get what you want. Just spit ballin’!

Life has a funy way of achieving balance and harmony via devious methods.

Even that... to call someone a dummy would require proof... why is that person a dummy? I have no issues in creating an argument respectively.

Fuck you! :p Seriously, I'm so much into the rest, past history stuff (I think because of you), that I can't even focus much on today's BS... maybe a little, but not quite as much.

Just when I was going to share my recipe for peach cobbler.....
