Two MIDI-controllable global master volumes would be great -> 4 sounds, then the same 4 sounds louder.

I think a single-knob row programmable ala Soldano/Caswell or whatever is a lot better if you want to fit it in a rack and could use the reduced front-panel size (and have already accepted the need to program your rack effects and stuff too). For a head though, I think people prefer the "traditional" idea.
 
I would love a traditional amp, but with midi in/thru, but also with a footswitch if I want to not use the Midi. Also, if you could make the layout similar to the VH4 in a sense, like....you can tell which controls go to what channels. All the knobs make my head spin for some reason except on the VH4, I like its layout the most of ANY amp ever.
 
how about a programmable preamp 19" thingy and a traditional head. then everybody is happy :rock:
