I'd like to hear it with more volume. Right now it doesn't have enough low end and its not compressed enough. I wonder if it were cranked up would it fatten up a little and get more saturated? If not....boost it

Yes great tone , but I was thinking the exact thing as psychodave.
Too dry, needs saturation...& a bit too classic sounding.

For that stuff I'd use a Mesa Mk series or a Recto. Thats what they used and the Mk III through V are killer amps.

no balls,

its got a killer plexi vibe though. Zeppelin would sound good with that tone or AC/DC & ZZ top.

that VH4S nailed that Metallica sound. :aww:

we're all waiting for the boosted clip todd. Get your butt to work, eager ears wait! :gethim:

Here is my Wizard Metal w/ a Master Volume: (Gain set low)

Metallic used this type of tone on "Garage Days" and the "Load" & "Reload" cd's. (Hetfield has a Modern Classic head he used- the Metal is basically an early version of the Modern Classic)

The tone is quite different than the Vintage Classic that I posted the Enter Sandman riff with. The Modern Classic and Metal are better for Modern Metal/Hard Rock.

The point of this thread though was how a Vintage inspired amp sounds doing something heavy and more modern. :)(Metallica for example)

Going direct in w/ no pedals to a 50 watt non-master volume Wizard Vintage Classic. Does the tone sound heavy enough for Metallica? Or does it sound too Classic?

If it were double/triple tracked, I think it could sound pretty close. It sounds good this way too, though.
