So you find it thicker too?

Clean:

Bass: 11:00
Middle: 1:00
Treble: 1:30
Volume: 12:00

Mid cut for some sounds - Intensity: 11:00, Volume: 1:00

Channel 2 - set for lighter gain crunch - Minus mode

Bass: 10:00
Middle: 1:00
Treble: 1:00
Volume: 12:00

Channel 3 - heavy rhythm and lead

Bass: 11:00
Middle: 3:00
Treble: 12:00
Volume: 12:00

Mid cut for rhythms
V2 and parallel loop engaged for leads
Depth at 11:00
Presence at 1:00

With a boost pedal (Lovepedal Eternity) and the various functions I can get a ton of sounds with this amp. For example for leads I can get a nice gain boost and EQ with the Eternity, add the loop for some delay and get a volume boost to cut through. Or add the boost pedal to the clean channel and I get a nice bluesy overdrive. Tons of possibilities!

Could it be, that Herbie is a "Low-Treble" Amp?

All of you guys, exept one or two, use their treble about noon.

For example my Ch2 is at full Treble and Presence at 3 o´clock. Only noy he´s as bright as a Marshall. Or close to a Marshall.

Is that normal? When i turn the Treble to noon, it´s too dark sounding. Not nice.

hey ... yes I think Herbie is a "low treble amp"!
With passive pu´s you have to dial up higher presence and treble settings.
emg´s will do a better job.
But at higher volume setting it´s much better ! :gethim:

I think it is also a speaker question.

You can see it in my sig. Marshall Cab 1960 AX V30 loaded.

I dont think, that it would be fixed with active PU´s. My Ibanez Sa is loaded with aa Dimarzio ToneZone, and my RG620 is loaded with he Fred. The SA is darker sounding indeed. The Fred has much more highs than the ToneZone.
But i think it´s the Amp voicing. Ok, the ears too. Played it 2 ours ago. Sounded more trebly than yesterday evening.
Higher Vol setting is ok.

But it´s realy fact, that it´s usual to use higher treble and presence settings with passive pu´s...?! Ok!

My buddy ownes an Epi. ZW LP with active EMG´s. Gonna try it.

for me,i dont think herbert is either dark or bright i feel its all the above, being able to do whatever you want with it!

all settings are as if looking at a clock
all settings have midcut ON Intesity=3 Lev=4

ch1 v=? T=2 M=10 B=5
ch2 v=? G=2:30 T=3 M=9 B=4 switch is always on +
ch3 v=? G=3:30 T=4 M=10 B=5 i use vol 2 as a boost
master Presence=4 Deep=3

adjust volume to play level
