Power supplies….

MURDERATOR
I basically have a dual outlet box that I’m running everything from. Three heads, all my effects, light, monitors and computer. I have everything plugged into two surge protectors running from the gang box. I have a separate isolation transformer that I’m using for ground loops… but I was wondering if I should buy a separate unit to use as a go between on my stuff. Like one of these maybe-https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/livewire-11-outlet-power-conditioner-and-distribution-system/h71323000000000
Plug that into the outlet and then everything into that. Good idea? Waste of time? Any suggestions? Thanks!?

Here’s my power in the room. Mind you this is a walk in closet I made for my wife and added power later…

I'm not the expert here but the general rule of thumb on musical gear is to put everything that affects your guitar signal on one junction box. That will help eliminate hum or noise. Ground loops are caused when there is a disruption to earth ground. So even though you are running two separate power strips and also an isolation transformer, adding another power device (power conditioner in your case) will not necessarily fix the earth ground problem. So put your computer and lights and other shit on a different junction box. I realize that is not ideal with that room. You could try running all of that on that one strip on an extension cord plugged in somewhere else.

Again, I'm not an expert and I'm not an EE. Hopefully someone a lot smarter than me can verify.

Steve - this video helped me a while back when I was trying to isolate my noise problems once I started using an ABY. Notice how in the beginning he talks about circuit ground, chassis ground and earth ground. When he mentions 'star' configuration for chassis ground, that is what we are talking about with dual amp set ups. Basically, electricity doesn't know how to get to ground. It gets confused. Assuming your house is grounded (earth ground) of course.

These are decent too.

The 3 prong to 2 prong adapter that he references at :37 is what I do - but it is probably not the safest. What that thing does is force my chassis ground to the Splawn vs the Boogie. The Boogie has the adapter. Worth a try to troubleshoot.

This was good too.

Awesome thank you!🙏

I have an adapter and have used it in the past. I just have way too much shit plugged in.

Like I said, I'm not an expert on these matters. That frickin $2 plug adapter saved my day after countless hours fucking with cables and plugs. Like I said, my dual rig is 'fairly' quiet now given all things. For example, turning every amp and pedal on

I would love a power conditioner and will probably get one someday. But as everyone knows, electric guitars is fraught with rabbit holes. Do I buy a power conditioner, or a better ABY, or better board isolation set up, or better noise gate. Fuck. Me. So I decided before I spend any more money on gear, I should spend more money on myself and get some guitar lessons. :D Thanks to @Techdeth I now have mostly memorized G Maj Ionian, A Dorian, and B Phrygian

That said, I do have a new issue that has popped up that I will be addressing/posting about soon as I'm having trouble isolating.

I took these recently when I was doing my annual "clean out"
