Well almost no one does get prosecuted for it. And it was political. What he's lying about is his claim that republicans somehow bullied the DOJ into charging him. Which is so fucking ridiculous I don't even think SharvellDan believes it. He was charged as a distraction from Biden's legal problems and to "Show that the DOJ hadn't been weaponized against Trump and republicans". They knew all along Joe would pardon him. They simply had to delay sentencing until after the election when there wouldn't be political consequences.
