Maybe I’ve never got it, but I’ve yet to see footage or hear a song that makes me think, “that dude is a blues legend,” but I always hear him mentioned in heavy duty company.

And now he has a PRS model.

Maybe someone can point out some epic guitar he played.

RF is a legend for a reason:

He is a favorite of the jazz / blues lawyer type of guys ha. Actually, I dig his playing and find many things to try and learn from him. I know he has played with many big name cats like Miles Davis and George Harrison (I believe). He was a jazz fusion guy early on before he became more blues centered dude. He has one song I love called "Nothing to Nobody" which is a middle age man's anthem IMO. I have seen vids of him tearing it up with energy occasionally.

But really I see nothing remarkable about this guitar or tone that he is getting. He can make any guitar sound great.....so yes this is a just a cheesy commercial or sales pitch

Unfortunately, any time I see someone mention Robben Ford, all I think about is that “Tag Knows Tone” thing from TGP.

Guy is obviously a great and well-respected player, but the douchey fan base turned me off

All the blues, “greats,” when I see them play, it makes sense to me. They usually have amazing feel, vibrato to die for, unleash insane and powerful licks occasionally, holding the super good stuff on reserve for special moments, and overall, when you hear them play, you almost immediately think, “ahhh, there it is!” You just know. Yet whenever I’ve heard robben ford I’ve felt nothing at all.

I guess I will have to possibly partake in a deep dive in to robben ford. I figure if PRS took the time to make that guitar, and a ton of time working on the pickups, it’s maybe, but just a small maybe, that I’ve missed or overlooked the magic of robben ford?

I will have to listen to him today.

Mr. Ford needs to learn how to cater to his crowd if he wants to sell those guitars. Should be wearing khakis and playing through a Dumble on that vid.

Try to ignore Miles Davis. Some pretty impressive fusion licks in here…….

No insinuation this is 'blues legend' material; however, I really enjoy listening to this album. The tones and playing.

(not oblivious to this forum's heavier slant, still good stuff here)

not a fan. I'm sure he's probably awesome and all but.....no thanks...

Yeah man, couple cool licks. Miles Davis looks like the living dead Roth speaks of in Mean Streets.

They have found a way to sell PRS SE models as the Regular models price.

To be fair, he’s a bad motherf’ker my dude.
Particularly his older stuff with that BlueBird Band.
Homeboy can sing & play like a Jedi Knight.
What makes him in the world class player’s club is his unique inversions & colorful extensions.
Btw,
I challenged a dude from TGP, the Dumble douche’
of ‘em all to an all out Robbin Ford battle.
“Politician” is as the song to cut heads.
But I called a time out and sternly requested
“Fuc* all this dumbo jumbo,
-play Redhouse and be done with it”.
Our schedules conflicted and it never happened..
I’M STILL HERE ready to do my best Gary Moore rendition, able & ready to start rippin’ shit up.
