I've not compared to the VC, but every MC2 I've had was capable of way more gain then the straight MCs I've had. So I would have to assume MC2 would be way more modern and way more gain than the VC since that seems even more vintage oriented then the straight MC. I find the OT has a big effect on tone and feel with Wizards also. Every "C" tranny Wizard I've owned had a more old school vibe where as the "V" tranny comes off more modern in voicing/feel to me. I prefer the "V" by quite a bit.

Doesn't strike me as a great price to be honest. I feel like I usually see the VCs go in the $3k range (with the MCII & MTL go in the $4ks)

I bet someone orders it and finds out the hard way that they just threw a $3500 amp in a big box with no packing material.

If it's in the Nashville GC Platinum room, it will probably be done right. That place basically operates like its own separate store that just happens to be inside a GC. It is genuinely the best place in all of Nashville to go for high gain amps and the guy who runs it knows what he's doing.

I'm pretty sure @SBlue used to work at that store? Or something like that? I may be remembering incorrectly, idk

But yeah that store is legit

Hah, I used to work at that store too! A million years ago. I haven't been officially involved with the company since I left though.

The guy who still runs the platinum room there worked there when I did though. He's been there the whole time. Solid dude.

I actually worked for the Hollywood Vintage, at the GC Hollywood, between 2001 and 2011.
Tony(forgot his last name) is who run the Platinum room at GC 100 Oaks(Nashville), and he is a great dude.

Based off clips online, it sounds more like a classic rock amp. I own a MC2 50w E34L and MTL 100w E34L, more modern sounding, more gain.

Both are excellent amps and have raised the bar on my current stable. So much so, I'm considering cutting a couple of my amps loose.

For those who haven't played a Wizard, the hype is real. They're uncompressed, dynamic, good low-end thump and are addicting to play.

Next Wizard on the hit list will be a KT88 loaded MTL2. Yes they're pricey, but they sound stellar and the build quality is excellent (PTP).

Basically it is, just way overbuilt, beefy everything. They can be cranked and not fall apart like Marshalls do.
And that’s the rub. Old amps having that point where they fall apart makes them more useful to me. Amps that are always together, tight, in control, have a much narrower place and I can get pretty bored with them.
