PSA Huge Price Drops on Marshall amps at Sweetwater

I posted in another thread what I would do...

I'd launch the JCM 800SE. I'd Dual Masters and would have Gain 1 and Gain 2. Gain 1 would be authentic 800 out of the box, Gain 2 would be the modded high gain sound that basically launched the modding industry i.e. the Friedmans, Ground Zero, Mono etc's... of the world. I'd also add a Resonance knob, built in gate, great loop, midi, the attenuator mode from the YJM and extras like IR's for the modern players.

None of this would be a stretch i.e. the attenuator, the gate (from the KK model which has been copied in pedal format) and resonance from the JVM's. Trick here is the stock 800 tone has to be authentic and built in the UK.

I'd buy something like that in a second.
Yes sir, that will be $5200.

I liked my jvm410 I just couldn’t get to open up and roar like my other Marshall’s.

ill b honest . My TSL destroyed my jvn410 .the TSL still opened up like a classic Marshall cranked . The jvm just never did that
I'm with you here, I actually *returned* my first JVM, I felt it the TSL did it better. The main reason I got a second JVM is because I found it in Samash for $999 - recently - and couldn't pass it up. Figure I'll do a video at some point about some of the tube switching it does and then let it go again, just not the amp for me.

Yeah but on the 205 and 210, the OD channel is the OD2 channel from the JVM410. OD2 is the more modern high gain tone as opposed to the classic modded Marshall tone. Not sure why Marshall ever did this.
This always grinded my gears, and the reason I've never had a JVM2xx. OD1 is great - I really dislike OD2.
Like I said before about the EVH 5150 vs 5150Stealth vs 5150EL34, which has been a really successful concept. I think Marshall missed the mark by not having multiple versions.

JVM210 "Modern." Same 3-mode Clean channel from the 410, OD2 drive channel. Like an ENGL Fireball competitor, clean to modern high gain.

JVM210 "Retro." Combo Clean/Crunch channel like current JVM2xx, and OD1 drive channel. Covers classic tones and classic metal better.

JVM210 "Classic." 3-mode clean channel from 410, 3-mode crunch channel from 410. For people who want a 1959x or vintage modern, but need more versatility, and can't afford a $3k JVM410.

I know this can be accomplished with mods, but if it's that easy, just do it from factory and charge a little extra for whatever one is not the "main" version. Easy money

Pro Audio Star, Musicians Friend, Sam Ash (last night) and some others. But it's temporary. Limited supplies.
I'm convinced Sam Ash isn't a real store and just a warehouse to move gear. Everytime I go in there, there is boxed shit everywhere and not an employee in sight. It is like a horror movie.

man .... I've been looking at Bassmans forever ...... I don't know anything about them .... they run from like 1400 " minty " looking 60's Black faces to the mid 80's ones that go for around 700 ... in GC used section .... what do you have ?
You can get early models around here all day for like 700….

$1000 off instant savings; Marshall 1959HW 100-Watt Handwired Tube Head ordered from Sweetwater. Free shipping.

Better price than used

Sounds like I'm gonna need an attenuator, probably two.

edit: I haven't played through a Plexi in over 30+ years.
Dude is selling a Friedman modded super lead in the classifieds for 2600 shipped.

I couldn’t gel with it. That was when they first came out though.
I had a JVM when they first came out. I got it thru a group-buy right on this forum, organized by SteveVHT. A few years later I got the Satriani version.

Did you notice a difference between them? At the time I was running the jvm and a vh4. I just didn’t dig it and hardly ever played it.

I’ve always struggled to really get into Plexis myself. I want to love them, but they’re just too vintage sounding. I find it a lot easier to mold an 800 into whatever I’m looking to get. That said, I’m still going to keep buying plexis and being let down
+1 on all this.
The one I'm looking at these days is the Suhr. Sounded really good when Timmons was playing thru one at the guitar show. Took all kinds of pedals well, and wasn't assaulting the ears holes too bad. But yeah, JMP/JCM mv does the trick better for me too.

I hear ya. 25 years ago their stores were cool. Last time I stepped in one was years ago.

$1000 bucks off tells me it was wildly overpriced for the market to begin and now isn't selling well so what kind of money am I really saving?
You get them for like 7-800€ on the used Market here. They are 1279.- new at the moment.

Now put the Mesa JP-2C on sale for $1K off :D
I have one on order for ages. For 2999.-€ We will see, if it's still the same price when they finally arrive years later...

US $3,999.00 new here in the US. I have the Neural DSP Mesa IIC+ Suite which sounds great for now, but not the same.
