PSA: Kemper Forum, Website and Rig Exchange Down

Was the forum as active as it used to be? Haven't checked it out in a while, maybe prepping for all the negative feedback about the security problems
I think it was down a bit on what it was a few years ago, but that makes sense when you think about it. As the user base becomes more-familiar with the gear's way of doing things, you'd expect it to drop off a bit.

i sold my Kemper last year and their forum wasn't very active then. I guess their new liquid profile stuff was causing a bit of excitement though.

Regardless, any company with an internet presence and especially one with a background service like Rig Exchange should have a disaster plan that gets them restored within a couple hours, max.

Pretty pathetic and obvious that they didn't take their systems very seriously. Hopefully they learned a lesson, but it makes them look really amateurish.

Fair, seemingly-logical point mate. IMHO.

I wouldn't conclude that they "didn't take their systems very seriously" 'though; who knows what contingencies they had in-place and how-tricky the problem/s was/were to solve and prevent??

Still down:
We are implementing maintenance and security upgrades for our forum. Please check back in a couple of days.

Of course, all conjecture on my part and I don't know the exact issues they faced.

But, they could've taken nightly "images" of their infrastructure servers and restored them all quite easily.

I think I get where you're coming from mate.

Na, I don't have any inside info. Just becoming more-surprised as time goes on is all.

Still down.

In my experience, it's only gone down whilst admin installed new software.

Other than that, it occasionally gives 404 errors and one has to reload pages. No biggie.

This is a different kettle o' fish 'though. :dunno:
