PSA: "Who is the real Larry?" thread is live

its pretty simple. this board is the ONLY one ive been on that acrively talks about Larry amps - and im a BIG gear nerd..... seems like he is super-boutique and at 7500$, you need your head examined to pay that for a metal amp, when there are so many incredible options under $4k.

having said that, if the only forum that i know of talks about Larry amps also has multiple stories of him not following through on orders, its that simple, im out of even thinking about it.

he probably has enough local euro customers he doesnt give 2 poops about this tiny corner of the amp internet...
He was kind of revered on the old MetroAmp forum, back in the day.

It was along time ago, so I don’t exactly recall if there was any certain outcome?
The strange thing is Pstar is in here after a five year Rigtalk vacation saying that Steve’s wife never got paid. 🤔🤔🤔
Well he’s been gone a bit now, bottom line is either she got reimbursed, or she didn’t. That screenshot would indicate Larry dude at least was intending to do the right thing, not trying to stir the pot but I would hope it happened by now

No dog in this fight but Larry was extremely helpful on the old Metro forums back in the day helping people out and freely sharing information. He's always been ACE's in my book due to my past interactions with Larry from back in the day 2005-2009.

Now if he screwed this guy out of money on a set of tubes that's really not cool. If he can prove he refunded the guys money he should post it and his reputation would be the better for it.

Larry knows his proverbial engineering shit and makes a fantastic amp judging from recent clips but a set of tubes should be easy to ship of not ship and or refund the guy's money instead of an online shit-show trading insults.

On Steve K's situation... if the contract says non-refundable downpayment then Larry has the right to execute that clause even though it's in poor taste because of circumstances.

Hence why I will never prepay for anything that isn't ready to ship. Too many people tell the same stories over and over throughout the years.... no matter who the builder was, Cameron, and others................:dunno:

Hell, your an old timer here although I don’t see you post much anymore?
You know what’s funny (or really not...) as far as not posting much goes I’m maybe 300 posts deep in 2022 here, but I did take a pretty long break from Rig Talk after I poked fun at a guy for being a schill for another member here, asking why dude didn’t just sell the stuff himself? The Guy lost his shit and told me to come to New York to discuss this in person bwahaha... The R/T member I was actually heckling just got charged with murdering a hooker and dumping her body, so I guess my bullshit detector was working correctly.

He was prolly all hopped up on gas station boner pills.

As a sign of goodwill, Larry stated on this forum that he had already reached out to Steve K’s widow re refunding the deposit. If it’s true that he didn’t make contact with her, he lied. Simple.

In this World and your short life in it you can choose to be a decent human, or not. I guess if Larry cacks tomorrow his estate has zero obligation to the people who have paid him deposits for amps they’ll never receive. It’s damn near Russian Roulette amp ordering!

Are you serious? Holy hell that is wild!!! What a story.
As far as you not posting much, I just remembered you being really active way back. My memory/recollection cannot be trusted. Hell, I might have you confused with another member.
😁

I keep waiting for a Larry to pop up on my Craigslist, I’m sure no one will know what it is and I can snag it
I

Unfortunately... if you sign on the dotted line then that contract can be upheld in a court of law no matter how shitty it may be......

Let this be a CAUTIONARY TALE if ya gotta have that exotic amp or guitar that takes years to get on a waiting list.......................................:bash:

You're assuming no refund = no contact? Maybe they spoke and Larry said no dice. Who knows.

I agree with @harddriver in that if Larry's policy is deposits are not refundable then he has the right to stick to that policy, regardless of anybody's feelings about it. Is it moral? I'm not in a position to make that determination one way or another.

...I guess if Larry cacks tomorrow his estate has zero obligation to the people who have paid him deposits...
I don't believe it works that way. Typically, if a policy is that deposits are non-refundable, then they're non-refundable if the buyer reneges. But if the seller/builder cancels, then buyer would be owed a refund. Typically. So yeah... hypothetically, if a private business owner kicks the bucket with a bunch of outstanding product deliveries, his estate would owe that money back. Here in the USA, you'd have to go through any surviving representatives of the business or the deceased owner's estate/trust/probate. Don't know how it works in Germany, though...

Wow what an impressive thread o_O

It was really fun and amusing to read all these 8 pages, all these 159 posts with enjoyment, so I'm glad to now be #160 😌

You almost get the impression that the rig talkers have paid me money over and over again, but no one has ever received an amplifier from me yet.
Not Dagobert (Disfigured), not thegame, not SBlue, not... etc. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, it really seems like some people here don't have any hobbies and had no idea how to spend their weekend in a more meaningful way?
In any case, if all the mental energy that went into this thread had been used to generate electricity instead, then a Tesla could certainly have driven from Montreal to Toronto with it 😄

Nevertheless, thanks to everyone who contributed more or less emotionally and/or more or less positively to this thread, because negative attention is also attention 😌

I wish you all over there on this large peninsula between Russia and Greenland a nice and cozy evening.
It's again already pretty damn late here in Germany, so I'm going to sleep now

Where is the thread from 10-12 years ago where Larry showed his true colors? I can’t remember exactly what it was about but it may have had something to do with him building James Hetfield an amp or something. I don’t remember all of the details but he acted like a complete fuckhead.
I ate that for breakfast about 3.47855263 years ago

But where is the thread I wrote 27 years ago? I can't find it anymore, but I swear I didn't eat it
