Yeah, you see some of these amps that you know sold for a certain price and on top of that the same exact price two, three times in a row.parntz145":nxd8do0s said:I remember the 50 watters going for $1100 and the 100 watters $1500. I cant believe the inflated prices on them now. I have been dealing with Cameron for at least 7 years. I wish I had a bunch of amps modded then and sold them off at these prices.

But I guess since I have/ own Mark's work and I have the knowledge of what certain particular amps/pieces have the actual worth of, I have a harder time paying a whole bunch more coin for it.
If I was gonna give that money out, I would rather it be going straight to mark for the amp directly instead of one that is modded and has been passed around the world 3 times over and then pops back up for sale at a higher price.
I would rather Mark himself profit from his good work no matter what the pace it arrives at, than someone wishing on the rainbow because they have a Cameron.
But this is all the fairy tale due to delivery times and drama.

Not mine - I have CCV and that's it!RoidRage":2q2n5n0c said:sah5150":2q2n5n0c said:
A nice piece is it yours? The person knows what he's talking about... But pricey for sure... This person wants to finance his entire CCV purchase with the selling of this amp.

Not at all. I had two amps modded by Jose Arredondo back in '84 and '85 and I never waited more than a week before I got them back. I used to bring them back to be serviced by him and same thing - would get 'em back fast. He was fast and good and a funny old guy... No one paid inflated prices for his mods - you'd just bring him an amp and $250-300 and a week later, you were good to go. Both of my Jose mods sounded awesome and that is what I'm trying to re-create with my amp. Mark's amps are something different to me - way different voicing. Mids and low end that slam you in the guts... heavier. I love my CCV and I'm looking forward to my having my amp to compliment it for a little bit more traditional Jose Marshall voicing...steve_k":38e5jxto said:Hollywood":38e5jxto said:I agree in large part with what you are saying.

I think it may be true that I'm the only guy on this board that knew him and had his work done on my amps. The guy was hilarious -full of stories about being backstage at VH shows. He'd show me stuff he was working on for EVH or Jake E. Lee... Arrco Electronics was always full of amps from a who's who of the LA players - some who'd already made, some who were on the way, and some, like me, who now work at other jobs...steve_k":1jm14bdh said:sah5150":1jm14bdh said:Not at all. Steve,
Man, what you stated here about Jose is very cool information indeed. I am thinking you are the only person around here that knew him or had a mod done by him - in person . I think his mods are pretty much public information in the forms of scanned copies of the circuits, not that he made them public. You will have to let us know how the amp build turns out. Wouldn't it be great to have service like that again?
You have got the CCV nailed. Bottom and mid slamming you in the guts. I don't use near the available gain either. No matter how you set gain 1 and 2 though, the clarity always blows right through the mix. This is one thing I absolutely love about Mark's amps.
We still need to discuss Hollywood's fondness of hairspray and spandex

Speaking of hairspray and spandex, here is me onstage in '85 or '86 at the Roxy in Hollywood. You can see my Jose modded 800 and rig on the left. Note the extra knobs and inputs cut in the amp on the right. Those were the high gain inputs...
