Quad Cortex Scam from a member?

As some of you may know, I posted in the classifieds that I was looking to buy. A member reached out to me and said he'd sell me one for $1k! Great price right? BUT demanded that I pay using PPFF to which I said "no thanks" i'll pay using G&S to protect everyone involved and add the 3% to cover fees
Seller comes back mad that I didn't use PPFF and says he's unable to cancel or issue a refund?? Then rapid fire messages explaining how I need to file a claim to reverse the transaction OR I can wait 21 days for him to ship...
WTF? I smell scam....
A fairly well known member so I'm hesitant to call them out but no afraid to do so either....
Thoughts? Help? Guidance? TYIA
 
FWIW I only accept Paypal FF to avoid a 1099, BUT if you said no thanks then that would be the end of it. Post the user as maybe their account was hacked.
 
Yeah, I think someone on here before was hacked and then their name was posting obviously fraudulent stuff.

My only thought in member's defense is if he agreed to price on ff and you paid other without him OKing it.

Either way, not a great situation

Yes BUT i added the extra 3% to cover any fees. Yah I didn't think it would be an issue

Yah good point. If that's the case, then not sure why he couldn't just say...."I'm gonna need to refund if you can't do PPFF" or "I'll need to raise the price a bit". All would've been acceptable
 
Please clarify if you paid G&S before or after confirming with the seller what payment methods were accepted.

He requested PPFF or Venmo and I declined and paid with G&S. Perhaps I jumped the gun but didn't think it would be an issue
 
Now seller has offered a "partial refund minus a $1 loss". WTF is going on here? Super fishy. Just refund the entire amount dude....

That's a mistake on your end bro. Yes you jumped the gun. Paypal charges a fee to refund a G&S payment, and there are plenty of members who will not accept a G&S payment. $1k is a good deal and hoping no one got hacked.

I banned his account. Looks like he was hacked. If anyone knows him or can contact him reach out and let him know. He has posted from Texas forever and now he’s posting from Portugal?🇵🇹 nah… like I have said before I will always act on the side of caution to protect members at the cost of some possible inconvenience.
