They never made a bad album until Risk right? I think we all can agree on that
Tell me how you feel

I am a giant megadeth fan and really feel the quality was consistent until risk. The band evolved between albums but kept the trademark sound (which realistically has a lot to do with Mustaine's killer rhythms since the lineups always switched people out). I think they have been more consistent in the long-run than their contemporaries. I don't think any album since risk hit as hard as the old stuff.

For the record I really love their tones they always got from JCM 800s, the CAE stuff, and the Bogner stuff. It all sounded amazing.

I always liked Dave Mustaine more than Metallica just because he seems more metal, and is a better guitarist than James Hetfield and Kirk Hambone.

I basically worshipped megadeth when I was first learning guitar. I met Dave at a meet and greet as a teen (first gigantour) and...yeah he wasn't super pleasant lol. But, with that being said it is difficult to deny how good his rhythms are.

I kinda lost interest after Countdown to Extinction. Same with many of the thrash bands as I was getting into more Death / Black metal in the early 90s, with Death, Sadus, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Children of Bodom, Obituary,...

Dave invented thrash . He always had the right hand thing down properly and first . He tremelo picked the string all the time with some pedal point . That’s thrash

His tone on the first notes of disconnect . Wow what tone from the mid period

I get it . They changed a lot . I just thing the albums were all good. Still

SFSGSW should get more credit too imo. Set The World and Mary Jane are both great tunes.
502 was musically great but the lyrics suck. And the cover sucked .i think that’s what hurt it . But it’s great still

I think the train (of consequences) started going off the rails with Cryptic Writings though it still had a few good tunes. The System Has Failed was a step in the right direction and United Abominations was back to how they should have stayed.

I really like Megadeth...And yes, the majority of the records they have put out are generally strong. I think they have struggled with production value on a couple of records and the constant line up changes has presented some challenges on the cohesive musical identity front a bit. All of that said, where I personally struggle with this band has been the vocals. Something about his signing has always sounded "forced" to some degree and that nasally timbre makes my ears tire. That said, still a legendary thrash band with a long resume of accomplishments.

On dystopia his voice and EVERYTHING on the album was strong af . I think Adler on drums really pushed him . It’s the best album since countdown even

I like it all, even "Risk". All hail Vic!
