Super Collider was a Super turd.. I think that one is absolutely dreadful. I didn't mind Risk.. It had some good tunes on it.

I actually liked super collider . It was fun . It was pure arena rock for its time . Is it corny at times ya , but Chris Broderick solos are great too. Bit us I think I’m the ONLY one who likes it .

I quit listening after Youthanasia, just heard bits and pieces of later stuff. Seen them many times, Jeff Young, Marty and Glenn Drover eras. Marty was my favorite, learned and taught about all RIP and Countdown stuff back in the day. Back when teaching was fun. There are probably tunes on later albums that are good, but don’t listen much of that stuff anymore.

Dystopia was better than anything Metallica has released since the black album
Except load and reload . That double album of piss and cum is great . That was our mid west cd to put on when we got laid as young lads . Loving the ladies while they loved Hero of the Day and Until it Sleeps is a loving memory of mine

wife and i walked down the aisle to marty's scenes music and his introduction album was our wedding music whilst people were entering the wedding (early 90)

cool story: marty remembered a handwritten letter and knew me by name when i met him at namm in '14

we both loved that era of megadeth and loved his solo stuff all pre-risk

I hated risk when it came out. I think Dave Mustaine did as well he always looked annoyed playing anything risk related on that tour. Today I think it’s totally underrated just pretend it’s not megadeth and it is pretty good.

That’s all so awesome bro

Breadline is timeless

thanks, i have a photo somewhere of marty shaking hands with me. his PR person was pushing him out of the PRS booth to his next obligation. I said, 'hey marty do you remember......' he turns and says something like 'are you corey...'

one of the coolest moments in my life for sure

that guy is such a good-natured shredder

I gave up on everybody by ‘92-3’ (hated Countdown) and retreated into Sabbath as Cookie Monster washed over into Nu-Metal. I haven’t been impressed with anything (complete album) until Dystopia and he/they damned-well brought it.

He was always a guitar hero of mine and I lament the awful Grunge/alt phase that stifled the big bands and pressured the cross-overs/change in musical direction. Imagining 2 more albums that followed in the the tradition of RIP would have been amazing… even if it would have ended with Marty getting frustrated and leaving to pursue his preferred music. Three legendary Marty-deth albums > 1 legendary and 3-4 Meh ones any day of the week.

I remember reading an underground metal rag in the early 80's and there was an interview with Dave shortly after Megadeth was formed. He said Metallica hadn't returned his Marshalls after they fired him.

And yes, I'm old. LOL

I've still never listened to Risk (or Cryptic Writings for that matter)

I love Youthanasia and everything before it though. Plus Dystopia

I think they started going downhill a bit with Youthanasia and then Cryptic Writings had some weird tunes on it, they were definitely going more mainstream by then.

Newb here and trying to contribute with decent comments..
What in Risk in particular is not considered good among devoted fans?
Not the biggest Megadeath fan myself - only like Rust in piece - but curious bc Risk is the one Dann Huff produced iirc and I do like him.. as a guitarist obvs but he's a very accomplished producer too.

Honestly, the songs are weak and it is so far from what Megadeth had been, part of why he titled it Risk. I don’t much care for the guitar sound, either.
