Question for RT2/50 Users

Everyone needs to put new fuses in the tube seciton. 400ma slow blow.
Jeff - Are you saying that the RT2/50 standard tube setup (6L6, E34L) should be using 400mA slo-blo rather than the 250mA fast-blow? Or are you referring to the use of 6550's?

EL34s can take out the lower value fuses...let alone 6550s. This was discovered a little while back (late 2007 I think?) and stuff shipped since then has 400mA in I believe.

I've had product that had 250 and 315mA fuses in...the latest one I got (from the factory) has 400mA.

If you plan to run anything other than 6L6s....change the fuses.

Well, my RT2/50 is brand-spankin' new - in fact, Musician's Friend was backordered for 6 weeks from Randall - and it came with the 250mA fast-blow fuses. It did seem to me that this is a pretty marginal fuse but what do I know?

Anyhow, I'd like to inform the guy doing the warranty work for me (it's in the shop as I type) so that he can verify this with Randall before wasting a bunch of time.

We designed it and you don't need to check with him. It needs 400 ma fast blow fuses Randall was informed of this and should be shipping them with them. My instinct is that a tube that is slightly suspect will blow the fuse. What side is it the 34's or 6l6s? My guess is the 34s!

Correct you are, sir! :D

Thanks for the help!

I've had my RT for years, with the 250s in it,thought I changed them but I thought wrong   Anyway,I've also ran JJE34Ls on one side at all times and just recently put 6550s on the other side and I play this setup more than any other, and not one hickup, glitch, blown tube, nadda!I think I just jinxed myself but I'm off to the store to get some new ones now, seeya!!!!

I just exchanged emails with Randall Customer Support and they are on board with the 400mA fuses. (I wanted to make sure I had a paper trail with them since this is a warranty issue for me.)

I guess the factory in Korea just ran out of the right fuses. :D
