 I wonder what a "BE-100" would sound like blended with a "Dirty Shirley"...hmm

He uses the dirty Shirley 100 all the time. He has stuff in the loop. The other stuff is what ever he is feeling.

A friend of mine (Wade) from the band "Undead Anna" has the Cantrell and Buddy Guy Wah's.. I let him get up and play my "Bonamassa Wah" thru my "Friedman BE-100" on a song at a gig. He was floored by both (Wah and Amp) in my opinion. The "Bonamassa Wah" works very well with the "BE-100". My RMC-4 "Picture Wah" was to thin to me in my opinion.

The Bonamassa was is indeed cool. The ones that get used the most while recording and live by me are the bonamassa wah and the buddy guy wah. Would love to try the cantrell wah though.

Thanks for the info. Im going to look into trying one out.

This post has been very helpful in getting my board right. I was having issues with my tremolo pedal, it was too harsh on the signal, giving it a very nasty effect and really altering the output signal far beyond what it should. After seeing the images of Joe's board above, I re-routed all my effects and now everything works perfectly (even my Cry baby is virtually silent and has a full sweep without the white noise), although I have a lot more white noise and mains hum coming from my amps now :-) still nothing a ground loop lift and new cables can't cure.

Is that Tube Screamer a vintage one or current production?

Well according to previous you tube interviews it is a standard TS808 Reissue.

I saw him last October and was fortunate enough to hang out during sound check and see all of Joe's gear. The Dirty Shirley was on stage but wasn't even hooked up. Same for the Trainwreck. One plexi was being used along with a newer Marshall (either a JCM900 or a DSL...I can't recall off the top of my head) hidden behind the back line. In fact, the newer Marshall with the 808 does the heavy lifting.

Food for thought for anyone wishing to recreate Joe's base sound (DSL 100 and 808) Unless you are able to run the DSL flat out like Joe, The best interpretation I can find, and I have been searching for a long time si running my DSL 100 on the clean channel without the crunch switch in (same as Joe) and having the gain set to full (Supper crisp clean with a hint of break up) and the volume at around 11 o'Clock then I run a Rothwell hellbender straight in the front. My 808/TS9 just doesn't have enough dirt at this volume.

The Hellbender is roughly the same price as the 808/TS9 but is so much more versatile. Having multiple gain stages, it can clean up to virtually no gain on single coils and a little dirt even when the gain is set to full (Full plexi crank) and even when you run it flat out on the guitar, it is the only OD pedal that I have found (I have tried virtually all of them in my time) that will clean up by just strumming/picking lighter, the response is just amazing. That's what you get for buying hand wired pedal from an audio engineer!

the Tube Screamer on the pedalboard is a vintage one. But in general the reissue works fine, and is used on 2 smaller boards Joe has.

So here is a video of Joe running through his rig, certainly before Dave got a hold of it. Appears there are different amps now in use. What I thought was particularly interesting is the use of Palmer Speaker Sims. Also, no super secret blurred out pedal... :(

Dave, does he still use the Palmers?

Hi Mike, what are your/Joe's thoughts on the Rothwell Hellbender?

How is the U shape aluminium extrusion attached to the edge of the board, as I can't see any rivets or screws to hold it in place. I guess it must be by some kind of glue?

And besides the nice aluminum job, what is the tip of that board made of? Is it aluminum panelling or a composite?
