Which amp is better for 7 string baritone scale brutal metal ? How do either of these compare to: Diezel Herbert, Mesa Triple Rec, Mesa Mark III blue stripe,Rhodes Collosous or Fryette Pit Bull UL ? Looking for the best beast tone. Thanks.

You may get more answers on this on the sevenstring forum. From what I gather, the amps are similar amps but the Satan is tweaked to Ola's specs. They are both good for metal and drop tuned stuff but that's all theyre good for. The one dimensional uses of the thrash and satan are the reason I decided to stay away from them. Get an EVH 5153 100 watt and be done with your search. Crushing amounts of gain, a nice rock middle channel, crisp cleans and good for many uses.

I have a lot of amps, including a Herbert, Triple Rec, Mark III blue stripe, a Cameron Atomica and CCV, a couple of Egnater modded 100 watt Marshalls, and a 50 watt Marshall SL/X that has mods, and an Engle Ironball for bedroom playing. Was looking to see what people thought of the new Fortin Randall stuff just for 7 string stuff...so one dimensional wouldn't bother me much (if at all).

According to a lot of owners including our own Fluff here at R-T, the thrasher isn't as pigeon-holed as some some here will try to tell you. Apparently, in addition to ripping your face off, it also has unparalleled cleans, especially when held against a class of amps touting copious amounts of face meltage.

I was personally speaking more to the Satan being one dimensional rather than the Thrasher. I did a lot of reading, listening and such to the Satan and just couldn't pull the trigger on it. The thrasher I know less about.

And still looking for a "beast tone"??????  But seriously, They are going to be different from each other and different from what you have but either really should shine with the lower tunings with the separate gain controls. The ONLY way to really tell is to play one in person. I know that's hard because they really aren't in many stores but there is really no way to really know otherwise. Clips and opinions can only get you so far and they can be way off from your real in the room experience. As for being one dimensional, I really doubt that. Then again, something doesn't have to be multidimensional to be awesome.

Dude the thrasher sucks if you ask me. I have owned a bunch of amps had 15 at a point . I'm down to my cobra, dragon, triple rec 2 chan, 5150, and a 2203.

The thrasher was thin sounding with very little bass response . Returned it the next day that's how bad it sucks to me. Just my 02. But tone is subjective and some people like thin tones I guess.

It's hard to judge from the clips I hear...Ola makes everything sound good, and there are NO stores near me with either amp in stock...so playing one in person, at least at this point, is out. I wouldn't expect a Chinese Randal to sound as good as my Triple Rec or the Herbert, but I thought it might pair up nicely at least with one of them.

Kind of Chinese vs chuckycheese if you ask me. \:D/

Forget the Camerons and Marshalls for the tone you're after....

Now, you own a Herbert, triple rec, and mk 3. Throw a clean boost in front of any of these and you now have one of the best metal tones you can get.

If you are not happy there, I'd suggest a Framus Cobra, and early one still made in Germany.

Wow, I'm surprised at the less than interested views on the randall amps. I've never heard them yet, but I wouldn't think it would suck.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised too actually...especially given Fortin's name being attached to them.

They over inflated their release, and I think that actually back fired on them to a certain extent.

Not to start another war, but they ARE made in CHINA! They may be associated with Fortin, but it says Randall on the front of the amps.

That aside, you have a Diezel Herbert. Thats like saying, " I really like my Lambo, it's a great car, but I want something fast, like a Type R Honda."

The Herbert IS a beast, no doubt. But if I could get a Satan and have another palette of tones, I'd do it 'cuz they're not expensive...I don't like that they're made in China either, but I don't think Fortin sells amps anymore under his own name since he signed with Randall...

I've owned a Fortin amp, not all that they are hyped up to be.

Enjoy the Herbert.

A lot of thrash metal guys swear by Fortin...oh well, to each their own I guess.

When I tried the Natas I thought it sounded processed and honky. It also lacked growl and balls for powerchords. I did though really like the metallic quality/attack the chugs had. Overall, I think my UL has the qualities I liked about the Natas and so much more. When I played my Baron DHG next to the Natas, it sounded so much bigger, growlier, nuanced, and most importantly real. The Natas sounded like I was hearing a recording of an amp, while the Baron was much more ballsy and the notes with the Baron had much more impact. I'm still curious though about the Meathead and Bones.

Have you played it? How's it compare to the natas?

Thrasher sucks lol. I love my cobra and dragon by the way. I have owned over 15 high gain amps . No diezels though . Cobra with kt88's owns
