RE-AMP Noise issue

Using a Scarlett 8i6 and a Joyo DI/Re-amp Box (JDI-48). I keep getting untenable amount of hiss when getting the level to the amp where it needs to be. The D.I track is recorded with a healthy level and sounds noise free on playback. Have to get the output level on the Joyo fairly high to be right. The Hiss goes away if I break the connection from the interface (slightly pull the cable).
I've tried balanced an unbalanced from interface to Re-amp box, re-positioning to eliminate power and USB cabling interference. No change. I can't say definitely if it's the Joyo or the Scarlett but the noise is gone if the scarlett is DX'd with Output level on the Joyo still high.

Getting frustrated as I only got the 8i6 to replace an older Gen 1 18i8 that didn't have more than two outputs (monitors). I hadn't used the Joyo before setting up the 8i6.

Does your unit have a ground lift? That feature has proven to be crucial on my Radium reamp box.

You might have a feedback loop causing noise, though, I would expect that to sound more high pitched than just hiss. Still worth troubleshooting though. I’d open up the Focusrite mixer software and mess with the routing. Depending on what its default setting is you could have more going to the output you’re sending to your amp than just the DI. Specifically, make sure the channel that has your mic isn’t being fed back into the output that’s going to the amp. That would create a feedback loop causing noise. If it is, mute it and see if that does it.

Outside of that, the ground lift is your friend. Watch your proximity to your computer when tracking. You’ll pick up noise that won’t be obvious when listened to dry, but it will be under gain. Also, if you using a laptop, compare the difference with your power adapter plugged in and unplugged. Those adapters can add unwanted noise to your DI and/or during reamping.

Tried some more testing and it's the amp. Don't know why yet, as it's fine plugged in as normal. Got a chance to try some more amps today and did not have the issue. It's a modded amp (marshall Origin 20) so not sure what's causing it. Even if it has a gained up V1, it's pretty quiet with my rig into it and not playing the guitar. All amps are plugged into the same power source.

Likely shot noise then. If it's modded, post the schematic - might be input grid resistor too high.

I bought it modded, so all I could do is post photos vs. the original schematic of an Origin 20. I have a preamp at the tech I like getting a once over. I'll ask him about it.
