I have no issues with dual channel modules having the same EQ. The gain and master controls work fine for establishing a balance. Having 2 dual channels in my MOD 50 gives me basically 4 channels (clean, crunch, rhythm, lead). I can't imagine any reason Id rather have 2 channels over 4.

+1 there man. I totally agree 100% with you :).

Eric

+2. Hell, half the time I leave all my EQs straight up @ noon. The damn modules sound so freakin' awesome, you could almost take the EQ controls off completely!!!

We will make the Twin, SL2,COD and EG5 in single channel formate. $375 shipped

Shouldnt you be packing things to be shipped instead of posting on web forums?

BTW, Susan from Studio Slips is trying to get a hold of you, but I know what she wants to know so if you call me I can tell her.

Audioholic, just get the dual channel modules and... are you ready for this?... only use one channel if you're so concerned with the EQ. <GASP!> Your mind. It is blown. I know. The beauty of this idea is that you can then have another channel at your disposal once you have grown out of this "limiting myself to only one channel is the best idea" phase. You're welcome.

ha

well, this is just my opinion after playing a mod 50, and the persons' who I played also mentioned some of the shortcomings of using the same eq some of the time. I had a 3 channel amp where 2 of the channels were identical, on different drive settings, my eq were not identical. While I see how a dual channel is great, specially making a 2 slot amp into 4 channels, and I would be able to work with it, I am just stating my preference, no wrong in that eh? sheesh. I mean using only a dual module in single mode is obviosly limiting its potential, but if there was a module that I loved different settings on, I would get 2, and eq and setup differently , but hey thats just me, I really only use a few sounds.

Heck, with different cabs, volumes, places, its so hard to just say, this shared eq will work ALL the time for each channell, I just don't, and didn't, see that happening for me. Trying the SL2, in channel 1, with light gain, set up bass to where i wanted it, then kick into channel 2 with lots of drive, my bass just got a tad out of control.

Plus not to mention I like different things about different modules. For example. I liked the SL2 for lead, but not for rythm, from what I heard, I would of liked to use the Eg5 for rythm, not lead. I like the D side of teh T/D, so in essence I would of only been using only half of the dual modules to begin with, why have 8 slots and buttons when really I would probally only more like 4. just makes more sence to me

It doesn't look like the singles are going to be much cheaper than the dualies, so i think the suggestion of getting the dualie and just using one of the channels is the best idea. You can still buy 2 identical dualie mods to get diff EQs on them. Given the price that the singles will sell for, not sure what the rationale would be for using them in an M4 or MOD50. In a Randall chassis, I guess they make sense.

.....that is unless the prices of the dualie mods are getting ready to go up (please God say no....otherwise, I need to place a big order now before the increase!!)

No price increase in the modules! Just certain things that dictate pricing on single sound.

Christ, man. Over-analyze much? Plug in and play! :scared:

perhaps, I am a studio owner, so I need to overanalyze sound, its my job. Music is my full time profession, obsession. Its all about the sound and little nuances no? If I was recording your music, I would have the respect for your final product to do more then just say, plug and play dude.

Understand - wasn't trying to say price was unfair - just that not much delta from dualies. How can one argue with the T-O-N-E!?!

Which channel from the dualies will be used in the singles - A or B?

What about a ERECT single? Seems to make sense since both channels are the same anyway.

The singles are channel B...E/Rrect is possible but might need a board change and we really dont want to have to make a new board. I will look into it.

So the M4 is about 400 bucks, and shipped with a minimal of 1 module would be around 750 or so?

I paid $800 for the one I'm waiting on. No need for a loop with the M4. The "space" between it and the poweramp is your loop.

I agree with you both here. I mean, I can't validate a reason for having less than is available right now. Think of it this way too: You have two channels, you may prefer A or you may prefer B and have no use for the other. So, EQ for the channel you prefer and then, don't use the other. But at least you have the option. And as far as I'm concerned at $375 shipped for a single, I'll take the dual at $400 plus shipping every time.

If after I actually get my M4 and use my 4 dual channel modules I should change my mind, I'll let you know.

All that said, I always did wonder why more folks didn't express an opinion about the shared EQ. On the other hand, some of Mesa's most successful and sought after amps have channels with shared EQ.

I had the Randall lynch box for about a year. Had dual channel Egnater modules......could only access one channel. Well the Lynch box got sold off and just got a Mod 50 for the PURPOSE TO PLAY DUAL channels. Why not get more tones for just a little more $$?? :D

Hey mailman welcome to the Darkside

I agree that the single channel mods being 25 dollars less doesn't make them more appealing at all. But if I had a single channel rack like the R4, It wouldn't be that bad I don't think. I mean if I had a mod 50, liked channel 2 of Sl2 for lead, Eg5 channel for rythm, I woudl have no room for clean. I woudl otherwise have to compromise and use either the sl2 or eg5 for rythm and lead, and something for a clean.

so right there, having even 4 channels of single different mods is a huge advantage. I mean I would definetally pick up a dual channel M4, but I can't wait for a build time.

Hey there JMGMAN! Yes.......I am not sure why it took me so long to wander over here........Must be that EGNATER THANG!!!!

Dan

How does that MGH compare to the EG5?
I had the EG5 and loved it, but there are more MHG's available and I might pick one up. Any feedback is greatly appreciated........

The MHG sounds great by itself, but with other guitars it seems to get buried,at least in my experience. The EG5 is like the sledgeomatic it slices, dices chops cuts you know the thing! The EG5 is the SHIT :D The EG5 is basically a sooped up MHG

Man.........had it in my hands....slayed with it....then sold it!! Now....the quest for a new EG5 is ON!!!!!
Say......wanna part with yours?? I will give it a good home.....only play with it on weekends.......
