OK I found this TBVO-50, I think this is almost exactly what I'm looking for, did not know Toneboys made this tube pedal. I have the TBOD-100 pedal that I overdrive my JMP with, this says it is a TBOD-50 cascaded into a tube preamp. I'm not sure what's different in the TBOD-50 and the TBOD-100 but I think this is the tone I'm looking for.

http://www.toneboys.com/2014/05/toneboys-tbvo-50-valve-overdrive.html

The Bogner Red can do that tone plus a LOT more, the Blue should easily be able to do that tone.

The Egnater Goldsmith is a lower gain pedal that would likely do that TB tone.
I just ordered a Silversmith from Sweetwater.
They expect the first pedal shipments towards the end of this month.
We'll see cause Egnater is famous for delaying product.
The good news is that Sweetwater is selling them so that's a good sign.
$200 shipped.

Thanks, I'll have to listen to the Egnater Goldsmith.

I listened to the Bogner pedals and I really want to like them, because they make killer amps, but they sound solid state still to me and kind of cold, I just don't get the 2nd order harmonics I hear in the Toneboys, the Bogner's do a lot of cool stuff but it's just not as warm like the TB

We all have our likes and dislikes to be sure. :)
Running the Red through my Vengeance gives me a nice tone, and I can get very warm sounds.
Not all pedals sound the same with all amps either, so that could be it too.
The Vengeance head has a fantastic clean channel, distinctive too.
My Wampler Triple Wreck also has a nice tube warmth tone even when running it with very high gain into the clean channel.

Now my Boss Metal Core, that one has NO warmth and distinctly sounds like a distortion pedal.
Metal guys love those pedals, they have an extreme amount of distortion.

Those PlexiTone pedals on the vid sound really great.
I may have to pick up the black one and compare it to the SilverSmith pedal.

Maybe I did not hear any good demo's of the Red, next time I see one in the music store, I'll give it a try, thanks for all the good suggestions.

For the price, I'd check out the AMT Drive Series pedals. They have Marshall, Soldano, Orange, Bogner and more. All under $200.

Why the hang up on a tube-based pedal? I think you're more likely to get the results that you want from a regular pedal. Don't get caught up in any hype regarding real tubes in pedals...I have yet to try one that sounds any better (or even as good) as some of the better non-tube pedals.

Nothing goes better with a Deluxe Reverb than an old RAT pedal for Marshall-inspired crunch tones (especially with a V30 in the amp).

That's funny you said that. My buddy had an old silver faced twin. That thing sounded ungodly with old 80's RAT pedal! I wouldn'd say it was exactly Marshall, but I've wanted a twin reverb every since then because it sounded flat out great. I would be very comfortable gigging with it. And, my main amp is a JCM800 2204.

That being said, the three channel plexitone sounds awesome through a deluxe. I think it sounds closer to a Marshall than any tube driven pedal that I've heard. With the boost on, gets a great JMP/JCM tone. And If I were in the same situation, that's what I'd put my money on. Compared to some of the stuff being mention is not that expensive. For the price of some of these pedals, you could buy a decent amp.

Yes. the older rat pedals are great, I still have one I will never let go, it's a great tone but not the tone I currently have with my Toneboys TBOD-100, the TB is a great sounding pedal on it's own and really nice also for pushing my JMP to the next level... But here take a listen to the TBOD-100 into a clean amp, pretty cool vintage Marshall Tone I think...

I did not know about these, I will check them out...Thanks.

I had a similar goal and spent about two years buying pedals to try. I settled on the Maxon ROD880, a discontinued model that's easy to find on ebay and I discovered sort of accidentally. It's not marketed as a Marshall or plexi sound, but it seemed to have the most soul to me. I had a JCM800 for many years and my goal was to have a smaller rig with similar tones. I run it into a Laney LC50 1x12 which has a very Fender sounding clean channel.

This looks really cool, like it may work for what I want, I will look around for one, thanks!

Mind you it is going through a poweramp, but in a pinch, the Tech21 hot plexi sounds like it would be a formidable backup or main rig for small gig/stage. Bit more sag from real plexi but in the grand scheme of things, will it really matter live:

this is amazing how close these are...

I own and really dig the DSL 3 for these tones but that vid of the Tech 21 is very impressive.

My favorite Tech21 pedal.

Tell me this isn't the most convincing Leslie pedal you've ever heard.

No tubes but the Dirty Little Secret MKII by Catlinbread I just got nails it. At least it does running through my little Diamond amp. Just get one and be happy. lol

If you must have tube then I would also look into Blackstar Amps pedals. Those guys used to work for Marshall.
