Check out his other amp videos. There are some which are really good, like the wizard, the diezel vh2, some modded marshalls and the mezzabarba mzero.

His vids are one of the main reasons I ended up with the JJ Jr. I think I’ve watched just about every video on his channel over the last year.

Yep, that's the Naylor sound.
He didn't move the eq much.
You can dial in a variety of different tones. One of my favs on the Duel is with presence, bas and mids maxed, treble to taste.

Here is a clip of the Duel 100 I had before it got the sparkle silver headshell, with the above settings:

Bit less mids:

Similar settings with a single coil tele, damn good amp:

Did someone say silver sparkle headshell?

The reason I recommended the EVH is because its tone is uniquely different from the other amps mentioned. It has an inherent mid-range bark. It's an identifying signature. That bark gets through a mix well. You have to know it's the tone you want though. The other amp that comes close to that is a Soldano but they are still different. Fortin put their grind peddle in front of one recently. Sounded like their own amps. 7 string drop A tuning.

You could try to find a Fortin amp also.

Getting good tones from an EVH 5150III is a matter of spending more time with one.

I would describe any of the EVH line like this: They are good sounding amps, that can get the job done. No doubt. But, when you compare the TONE to another of ANY of the other amps mentioned in this thread, they fall short. For me it's like comparing a DSL to a good vintage JMP or JCM 800...the DSL can sound good, get the job done AND has great modern features. But put the DSL up against a good vintage Marshall, at volume and you'll pick the vintage amp every time. IF tone is the most important thing.
I've had the 5153 50w (2X), the OG 100 (1X) and a Stealth 100 (1X). As much as I wanted to like them, every amp I had in the room at the same time was just a MUCH better sounding amp all around. Amps I owned while any of the EVH stuff was here includes: JCM 800 2203/4, 2205; SLO, VHT D60, C+, Modded JMPs(Nick, Cameron, FJA). Believe me, if the EVH sounded anywhere near as good as the other amps I would've sold some and gigged with the EVH 9 yrs back.

When I think "chainsaw", I think the VH140C 🤷‍♂️

Also - the DC series sounds way closer to the Mark than the Recto series does IMO. I always thought it sounded very similar to the Mark III.

I think if making a tube amp that sounds like SS was their goal, they kinda nailed it. If they were going for the brown sound, I think they went towards the wrong brown..

There's nothing you can do with that amp that I haven't already done.
Sloppy seconds.
Just saying.
Just kidding.
Explore the half power switch if you haven't. It's tighter, brighter less mids.
Try these eq settings: max presence bass n mids, treble to taste.
Turn that fugger up in both wattage settings. Like 1-3 o'clock in master volume. She creams out beautifully. Becomes the best most syrupy lead amp ever.
♥️

OP- your JJ Jr has a great Series FX loop, one of the posters suggested Victory pre-amp in the loop, they would work great with that amp. For your $2500 budget, suggest you also consider looking at Synergy modular pre-amp (SYN-1 or SYN-2), the ton of available modules from Synergy, previous Egnater & Randall ones cover many of the high gain amps others are suggesting here.

They go $800 new for a 2 slot SYN-2, and $400 each for new 2 channel Synergy modules, $300-ish used, down to $200-ish for used single channel Randall/Egnater ones. You'll either love or hate the modular design, it's not for everyone & never 100% replicates the tones because it's only pre-amp, but for your budget, you could get a new SYN-2 and 4-8 modules.

Did it, done it, love it. Those settings are cool AF. Such an amazing amp, there’s just so much clarity, punch, and raw, woody goodness to be had. Top tier amp that’ll hang with the best.
