Ok! call me Mr Acoustic guitar guy,
I thought the YJ adapters were the yellow jacket triodes.

I am lost. Whats the diff and what do I need?

I want to reduce the volume by putting in the jj6v6s
but I think Orren sugested yj adapters and yellow jacket triodes are another avenue that will reduce the volume and also sound really great.

Then you could also switch out without rebiasing.

As a preacher once said "can I get a witness out dere.... Sommm.........bady help mea......."

thanks :bash:

I looked on Musicians friend and now have a better understanding. The tubes and adapter come together and they explain which ones to buy with pics so that helps.

My next question is, once the yellow jackets are installed can you still use the switch to select the high and low power settings on the Mod50?

Thanks
Angelo

Absolutely. Low Power Mode reduces the output by about 60%, so if you have YJ Triodes, high power is about 10W and low power 4W, and if you have YJ "regulars" high power is about 20W and low power is about 8W.

God I love this amp.
Good thing I have my class build amp as I used it on the gig this past Friday and it rocked the house. I've got KT77's in that one at the moment.

How are the KT77's? I just retubed my 2/50/2 with JJEL34L's and almost went for the KT's.

Scott

I really like the KT's in my class build amp. Gives a good cross between the EL34 and 6L6. As with all amps, sometimes you just have to give them a shot and see!
