Well did a test with my newly bought Protools/superior drummer setup. I just put together a quick drum track and free styled over it with some chord-age. I doubled the first part because I could remember it right away, but stopped when I forgot what was going on, it's cool though, shows how it sounds doubled and alone. Let me know how it sounds, first time I've recorded on something that well is...actual recording equiptment, by myself that is. I think it wasn't too damn shabby for a first go. I would've just recorded a song but my amp does this weird muffle thing ever since UPS had it in their hands, so I got to get that fixed...brown bastards.

Take it easy guys!

Nick

Louder volume take added.

I like it. I'd like more mids & deep, but it's pretty cool the way it is.

I should mention it was recorded at low volume(might be why the mids are perceived as a little scooped), it's got plenty o' mids, I pump mine. Right on though my man

Also...you don't think that's chunkin' pretty good at 1:20, I thought it was chunkin' pretty good especially if I had a bass on the track, oh well :dunno: . I'll have to make a clip at higher volume I guess.

If you had a lot of mids dialed then your mic must have been dead on center. It's far from enough.

The low volumes feels because the guitar sound doesn't have enough thump, but adding more deep might make up for it.

Overall, for a first timer, you rock!!

The mic was kinda where the dust cap meets the cone typical spot. Where do you usually mic at?

at the same spot as you do, only I angle it some. it's probably worth to note that I have my presence & highs very close to noon. If you dial a lot of presence you might wanna get further away.

I'll try it higher volume and with it further away tomorrow, see what happens. Too late right now though.

you're definitely on the right track. I'm sure you'll get there soon.

what's your monitoring situation like?
what pickups are in your fiddle now?

Shit,  . Well they aren't bad I guess JBL Control 2P's I think is what they're called 80hz-20khz range I think. They're a little darker than my regular listen to music speakers but it didn't really seem much different on either. I burnt a cd so I can listen in the car in a second, see how that is.

More harmonic structure, little bit more bass kick... not much though, mainly the harmonic thing which is what I wanted more of so it ended up being perfect. I haven't even thought about another pickup since buying them, Wade's a badass.

btw...

I just got done listening to it on my car stereo it sounded pretty badass on it, the opening riff sounded mean as fuck. I could definitely say some louder volume at recording would make it rip because it'll compress a little bit more and the mids should catch up. I hear what cha saying though.

Curious, what channel were you using and what settings (realizing it was low volume)??

Channel 3: channel volume at 11:00 o'clock, all other dials about 2 o'clock, treble slightly higher 3-ish, deep 2, pres about 1-3 o'clock depends on where I'm recording and volume.

Cool. Maybe try lowering the channel gain to around 11 o'clock when you have the chance to record at higher master volume levels? Just a thought. Oh, and what cab are you using?

Jopp sounds good! But what mic/interface did you use?

What's jopp mean   Thanks dude-a-rino! I recorded a louder volume clip, it balanced things out I think, let me know what you think of that.

It was a SM57 into a M-Audio Profire 610 btw. I think if I get another mic it'll help spread it more too.

I will, I made a clip with louder volume, tell me if that made a difference.

Cab is an American construction Front Loaded with G12k-100's.

Remember...be excellent to each other!,
