Hi guys,
can you recommend me the microphone, cables..all the stuff you use for recording ( in normal prize)? I have VH4 with Diezel FL 4x12 with V30.
Or do you anybody use some good guitar software?

I´d like to record some riffs and so at home..

thanks a lot ;)

No I don´t have interface. I am starting with recording..noob in it :D ..
Budget.. around 500 dollars.. ( 400 euro) .. don´t wanna something best..only usefull enough..to record riffs and so..or songs with band when practice

thanks

alright, you have 400 euros.... and the computer yo have, is it decent? is it a Mac or a PC?

but I'll recommend you some stuff:

If you have a MAc, you already have a "decent" DAW (Digital audio workstation) a daw is a sequencer and that lets you record/mix/master in it. In other words, is a "software mixing console".

Now, you need an interface; and an interface is basically a sound card (but not like the cheap ass soundcards that normally come inside the PC, this ones are more powerful andm ost of the times have preamplifiers inside to amplify, the electrical signal that that comes from a mic/instrument.

Now I won't get more technical than that, so let go into suggestions:

The interface you'll get will be affected by the DAW you want/can use. For examplo, PRO TOOLS which I'm sure you've at least heard before -the name that is-, is the "industry standard"...... and IT IS a great DAW, but a little limiting because you can only use an interface made by Digidesign, which is the company that owns PRO TOOLS software.

Now there are some other GREAT DAWs, like: Logic Pro (Apple), Digital Performer (MOTU), Cubase/Nuendo (Steinberg), and some other. With all these you can pretty much use any interface you want that's not Digidesign.

Now, what's cool about digidesign is that once you buy an interface, the software's free. Same with Motu hardware.

If I where you, I'd look into:

-M-audio Firewire Solo
-DigiDesign Mbox
-Motu Ultralite MK3

or, Line 6 toneport.

I have an M-audio Firewire Solo for my "proTools needs" but I use mostly Logic with a Metric Halo interface (but that's out of your price range)

SM57 is a great budget guitar amp mic! get 2 if you can. I prefer a Heil PR30 or 40 for a single mic, and love the combination of 57 and heil

well, then again, it's alright....you can use any of those. (except Logic 8 which is STILL not out for Window)

M-audio does some nice stuff, I'd get that.

Motu's great too.

Oh, thanks..I dont have Mac .. I have PC..Windows XP
my condolences :D

I have a small idea that you have MAC :D

..so MAC is so better for this, you think?

I don't want to start a Mac-PC debate, but if you shouldn't be a gamer I would think that its a good idea to switch to a Mac. With a Firewire interface and one/two good mics you're fine.

Trully, I am thinking abou MAC for a long time. But only need to little advise. I am architect and I use a lot of programs, like AutoCad or ArchiCad, that I heared, the works only under Windows. Is any possible way, how to run they on MAC too? Than it will be no problem to switch to MAC for me..

Thanks :)

My girlfriend's an Architech too, and she's been a Mac user for 4 years. Remember that macs can run winblows too (use parallel or bootcamp and install win there and run all you - PC programs - there)

My girl has Autocad and 3D Studio Max in windows and launches it when she needs it. But I believe that 90% of the time I see her work she's using Vector (which runs in both plataforms)

I think Macs are superior computers (both the hardware and the software which is the most important)

Get a nice new Macbook Pro if you can afford it or check ebay and get one of the "olds" (they're new still, but Apple just recently "modified" the hardware, so there are a lot of "old" MacBookPros around a great price)

and like Olaf said, with that, a firewire interface and a mac you're set to go

oh, and I'd get some decent monitors (mine are M-audio BX5a which are 300 euros or so, but they sound good - a bit bright - but good) or just get some nice professional recording Headphones like Sony's MDR7506 or something like that.

Oh, thanks..that I needed to know..
I am in time, when looking for new notebook..so I´ll maybe really buy Mac.. 13,3 display :D .. the new one..prize is not a problem, it is meaned for work, so good one is needed ..

Don't listen to these guys, they don't know what the hell the are talking about. :D

nbart......shut up you winblows user!

borkincz:

if again, if money is no option, I'd get a MacBook Pro. you get much more stuff and is better for graphic and music work.

mac's......arent these this little things for people who cant use a real computer? :D

Macs = the ENGLs of the computers :D

my condolences

Agreed. Macs are for those people that actually want to get things done as opposed to figuring out how to do things.

suggested external usb audio sound card ? for windows xp

So, i'd need the proper sound card, a software and a mic, right?

Talking about Mac.... I'm starting with al iPhone lol :)

:banhim: :banhim: :gethim: :gethim:

ENGL is german, and german amps are dos (except beringher stuff) so..

Window$ user here, not Mac$$$ :) Happily using Windows (now Vista, but XP should be a bit faster and more reliable to you) and Samplitude DAW (http://www.samplitude.com) for the past more than few years. Get an RME audio (http://www.rme-audio.com) interface. Jee, am I German products fen or am I not? :) Amp's, Software, Audio interface - everything's German :) I guess I have a soft spot for these ... but are so well done. I did quite a bit of recording with this configuration, never had single problem everything sounds great (to me at least ;) some others say so as well).
Mac$$$ not better for audio and music, if you know your way through setting up a nice Windows workstation.

As for the front end - put the trusty Shure SM57 in front of yer nicest speaker (or even better - Sennheiser e906 or even best - Royer R121, if you have the dough) into a nice mic preamp (if you again have the dough and want to get that nasty sounds - get an API, Chandler TG2 or if you are handy with the iron some really nice mic pre kits from http://www.jlmaudio.com (TG500 being good choice) or http://www.seventhcircleaudio.com/ (both N72 and A12 sound great) - both have assembled ones as well - do sound amazing) and be done with it.
