Remember the Peavey Ultra Plus? (Video)

I had an Ultra Plus and I really enjoyed playing it. Tones were great for metal. I had two gripes with the amp which led me to let it go. (1) The footswitch -- the switches were far, far too close together to be used in a live situation, I thought. (2) Channel switching has a noticeable delay (to me) and also a noticeable dropout.

Great amp, just couldn't cut it for my live use.
 
^agreed, the buttons are made for tiny feet and there are dropouts when switching orange<>red
I wonder if there's a 3rd party pedal that would work better?

EH tubes are shit.. you put some chinese, JJ, mullard in the pre, and JJ or TAD in the output and this thing will hang with almost any amp.. the ultra plus is one of peavey greatest amps hands down.. i owned one along with my 6505 and the ultra plus hung with it all day.. 2 total different amps.. ultra plus was way tighter, 6505 was beefier. if i find one for 300 bucks on the ebay or local its mine..

I scored one recently and found out that you need a footswitch to access the crunch channel. Anybody got an Ultra Plus footswitch laying around?
 
These amps are really new for me as well. So i can't say anything over here... :thumbsdown:
 
i have an Ultra Plus coming. my Single Recto is awesome, but i miss the cutting lead tone of my 5150, and the Ultra is a lot like my old 5150 and my Rockmaster preamp. if the Ultra does the job, i may be giving up the Recto and getting a decent power amp for the Rockmaster so i can have 2 similar rigs.

cant wait! been wanting to try an Ultra Plus for a LONG time!
