I maxed out my brain learning how to wire a basic 12v system on a motorcycle. I see all those squiggly lines on a schematic and my brain starts hurting. My kid on the other hand is gonna rewire my Viper for me. I don't get it.🤷‍♂️

I installed a ton of pickups and rewired a lot of guitars when I was young, but never from schematics...I had to have a drawn out wiring diagram when I started out. Made saddles and nuts, did set ups and fret leveling jobs, too. Never went beyond that.

this is all you have to worry about

i hear ya. i took an analog electronics class in college in 2002ish. I learned the basics, but when it came to doing the math stuff related to circuits, it was all over for me. i was way to adhd to get the hang of the math and circuit design stuff. However, after i told the teacher that i was into tube amps, he took me into this upstairs storage room in the building, and there was a MASSIVE library of NOS tubes. probably 10's of thousands of tubes in their original boxes. he let me spend a ton of time looking through them and told me i could "take a few if i needed them". i'm not proud of this, but i was sneaking tubes out of there in my socks, underware, etc lol every week. I grabbed anything that said mullard or telefunken. I sold a bunch and ended up paying for my whole semesiter of community college. I have to wonder what ever happened to all those tubes. that teacher has to be dead by now. if somoene at the college threw them away, i would murder them lol. It was akward at first...i wanted free tubes, but i was also like "um... you know this shit is like....pretty valuable right?" He was like "if these were mine, i'd retire today".

i know... cool story bro lol.

it was macomb community college in warren, mi i'm too lazy... someone should call and ask if they still have their tube stash lol.

Blues Driver feels more natural as an extension of the amp with less bass cut BUT gets a little out of control as the gain goes up. I had one years ago, ruined it modding it to some spec and just said screw it, I don't have time to fix it. Nowadays the BD-2 Waza takes care of that. They are as was mentioned, bigger in other cirles. Not so much the metal or hard rock circles. Danko Jones used to use one to push his 800's though.

do you have a reccomendation for a Floyd rose setup with string height adjustment? I'll flip through that channel to see if there's one there too
Ibanez Rules probably has the most comprehensive Floyd guide.

My best tip is to pull a spring and shove a stack of index cards behind the block to fix it level while tuning up and shimming the saddles.

cool I'll have to check that guide out and also appreciate the tip otherwise!

How would you compare the SD-1 to the Blues Driver? I know the SD-1 is legendary for good reason.
If the SD-1 is designed to push a cranked tube amp, then by comparison BD-2 is designed to replicate the feel of said amp itself.

It's very touch responsive and cleans up really nicely with your volume knob. It can get quite dirty but in the JTM45 kinda way, and it can also serve as a clean boost, "secret sauce," etc. In a way it's in the same ballpark as a Klon.

An SD-1 into a BD-2 is a classic drive combination.

Floyds are easy to work on. Watch videos and ask us questions. We got you covered, bro.

I appreciate that, gonna start tomorrow once I get a small enough ruler to measure the action itself. Gonna be an interesting journey but hopefully on the other end...no more money for setups!
