Reverb Seller's Impudent Response to Not At All as Described

I missed this comment before for some reason. All I know about them is I bought a guitar from them once and they were really cool about it, gave me a killer price, shipped fast, delivered in immaculate condition, and responded quickly to my messages. I'm not explaining to refute your statement but because that was probably 3 or 4 years ago when I bought from them, and I occasionally browse their inventory for deals. If they went downhill (as so many companies do), it would be a shame. Thanks for the heads up because I had one of their guitars in my watch list.
Only mentioned Axe Palace because they did EXACTLY to me, as you describe. Except, the amp wasn't scratched up, but definitely used. No factory packaging, no manual, no spare tubes Engl includes, not even a fucking cord to plug it in! BRAND NEW. And, the guy was a dickhead about it, and would make Pinocchio look like an angel he lied so many times.

The dude is a renowned dick head, always has been. If everything goes smoothly there's no issue. If anything is off about what you got he acts like he's some dude just selling his personal gear online and not an actual store. I know both KSR and Mezzabarba have gotten involved when he was trying to dick over their customers.

It’s amazing how many shysters there are in the gear community. Never ceases to amaze me.

Man, that sucks. Thanks for letting me know because I could have bought something from them again. People have no honor these days. Personally, my conscience wouldn't permit me to deceive or take advantage of anyone. It's not that I'm such a perfect person or anything but that a dirty conscience costs a terrible price. If people operate that way, it's amazing how they're able to continue doing it. I sure hope Reverb won't let the seller get away with ripping me off.

I waited to leave feedback until after the situation was resolved but the feedback option disappeared.

I think reverb nullifies transactions that get refunded that's why there's never any negative feedback on anybody.

Basically if you get the refund there was no transaction in their mind so you can't leave bad feedback. Which I kind of get because I got my money back in full. But prevents me from warning others about this guy's listening
That is so fucked up. Fuck Reverb! Strike 1.

Reverb doesn't really let you leave negative feedback. I tried to years ago. The issue wasn't worth my time and I still wanted whatever it was, but I tried to leave negative feedback over it, but the Reverb system wouldn't let me do it, forcing me to try to contact the seller first to "resolve" whatever the problem was. So I just didn't leave feedback at all.

It makes sense that Reverb wouldn’t allow negative feedback. Negative feedback = people less likely to buy from that seller = Reverb less likely to make money from the potential transaction.

Reverb is highly incentivized to make every seller on the site look as good as possible.
That is so fucked up. Fuck Reverb! Strike 3.

It was a long time ago. But, you can certainly do a search and you'll find numerous threads about Asshat Palace. Lots of shenanigans.

I know. How many times has this happened the other way around too? Little scratch on the bottom of the amp, and someone tries to pull the not as described card because they had buyers remorse.

A few weeks ago I found a european Roland SDE3000. Its like a unicron here in Europe.
I asked for extra photos to see the screen when on bla bla bla...

The rack arrived after 2 weeks, after making a roadtrip across Europe and when it finally arrived all it had as packaging was some bubble wrap...
I couldn't believe my f$% eyes...
Off course the input pot was severely damaged and did not do anything...I asked for a 50 euro refund from the seller...fortunately the seller was afraid after receiving the claim and gave me the refund...

the rack got fixed...

There's a big scratch about 6", it's not "Brand New" as described, it's 7 years old, there are scratches and scrapes all around the tolex and grill plates. I don't play the buyer's remorse game. If it happens "the other way around" then it's probably because the seller neglected full-disclosure. It's common practice to disclose small cosmetic imperfections because you can't just assume no one should care about minor blemishes.

I wasn't implying that you were lying, or even talking about your situation. I was agreeing with someone else about how many people try to weasel out of deals.

Yep it’s about disclosing all the little things prior so you can decide accordingly, which I always do. In my recent Charvel case the guy listed as mint so I didn’t haggle. I asked him prior was there anything at all, finish cracks in neck pocket etc, said no. Guitar arrived and right away noticed a few obvious ones. To his credit I didn’t even mention a dollar amount or wanting to return. He brought up partial refund, I said what did you have in mind and he offered $200. I probably could have haggled for more but felt he was being decent all things considered.

Reverb permits less negative feedback by design than a Dual Rectifier power section
Man, I left some scathing feedback so I hope it sticks because that dude deserves it.

Yeah, taking those kinds of losses really hurts so that's why I always show high quality pics from all angles and mention minor blemishes so that no one can say I didn't deliver exactly what I described. I'll go as far as getting video to show it's fully functional, pictures of the packing process from beginning to end, and a picture of it on the shipping counter. All of these things are necessary these days because people can be so flaky.

One thing I noticed is most of the time when they have buyer's remorse, they either start asking certain kinds of questions while it's still in transit, or submit a refund request before it's even delivered, or just totally make up stuff as if they have no conscience about it and try to get a refund the day it's delivered. In any case, they almost always telegraph their intention without realizing it. Then I'm like, "Oh boy, here we go again."

My solution to this type of shit...don't buy used unless I know the seller through interactions here or TGP. F reverb. I really only buy new these days anyway.
Even that's not guaranteed. I bought an old Ibanez RG from a very active member here on RT years ago (haven't seen him post in a few years but he had a good history and a ton of feedback) ... it showed up with the string blocks on the Edge bridge literally rusted in place and the rest of the hardware in poor shape. Sometimes buying online is just a crapshoot no matter how careful you are.

Between the PayPal and Reverb disputes you'll likely get compensated. What is the seller's name on Reverb? This kind of crap pisses me off from sellers, and maybe RT should have a thread listing buttholes like this.

Keep on it. They will eventually side with you. I've had to appeal a couple of decisions they made and both times they changed in my favor.

WOW! Important update! So I wasn't real confident with Reverb, and because they're pretty slow about things, so I filed a PayPal dispute. A couple days later, Reverb contacts me and says I need to cancel my PayPal dispute because "it can result in your funds being frozen. If this happens, it can be months until we can release these funds." So I called PayPal and they said Reverb is lying, that they do this often, and that I can rest assured that PayPal will refund me and whatever Reverb.com does will have no effect on what they do.

Holy crap.

That's fucked up.
