Rhoads was the first Jackson

How on earth did Randy play that guitar to the far left in the above image with the upper neck access cut off from around the 15th fret up until the 22 or 24th fret .

The black polka dot has great upper fret access compared to it.
that's why the change was made for the second one

I always thought the rhoads was a king v with a short wing. Aparently the short wing.is the size of the king v? And the double rhoads is longer.
My previous assumptions were baseless assumptions. So now finding out all this is cool
The Rhoads came first (which is the second guitar Randy had made (the black one) .. the first "king V" style was the Double Rhoads built for Robbin Crosby of Ratt which turned into the King V once it became a production model quite a few years later .. The Double Rhoads is a lot bigger than a King V because Robbin was like 6,6

I could be wrong, but I think the King V was actually bigger, and the first one was made for Robin Crosby, because he was a pretty big dude.

That first guitar definitely had a more "squat" shape to it. Jackson did a limited run of those that the called the "short wing" back in the early 2000's if I remember right. I believe they were supposed to be limited to 200 pieces, 100 were string thru and 100 with trem. I think the majority of them went to Japanese collectors, so if you see one in the US they are pretty rare.
Dan Spitz of Anthrax had/has one of them.
The shorter upper wing on the original is bloody fantastic.... I have built a couple of V's based off of a GJ2 Grover guitar and man they are so much more comfortable than a RHoads

Check out Karl Sandoval's YouTube page if you want to hear some great stories about Randy and the building of the polka-dot V. Karl talks a lot, but seems to be such a nice guy. (*I'm not sure which vids are best, it's been a few years since I watched them, but this one will get you going>>>)

The white Jackson , the Concorde it’s called ? To the best of my knowledge he used that one for the songs that were tuned a half step down in the set . Over The Mountain, Believer and Flying High Again

My mom wouldn’t let me go to the 4th of July Day On Green where the band played that year but I lucked out on the Diary tour
I saw Sabbath in '78, Never Say Die tour; they had an unknown band opening for them called Van Halen. Went to the local underground record store the next day and they had a few copies of VH1, I got one. Also saw VH on the VH2 tour their first headlining tour.

A few years later I saw Ozzy in a small venue, Springfield Civic Center on Blizzard of Oz and then Diary tour in New Haven. One show had Joe Perry Project and Motorhead opening.

Also saw Sabbath with Dio, Heaven and Hell, and Mob Rules.

I am pretty sure I was at all those shows. Randy's brother was good friend of mine in H.S. and told us all about his brother in 1979 playing with Ozzy. He proved it to us with the signed album. I traded a guitar to him for Randy's Cherry with gold hardware, 10+ pounds, Les Paul. His dad sent him back the next day to get it back. Damn.
