RIP Chris, another of the greats lost. Huge impact on me.

I agree that things seem "off". Maybe just inaccurate reporting or me not wanting to believe. I mean the show couldn't have ended before 10:30-11? It is entirely possible he normally spoke with his wife right after shows and maybe very unusual if she couldn't reach him. Still, the timeline and details leave me with questions. I'm not a conspiracy guy, but something seems amiss.

I agree, reports seem odd. I thought he always took his family on tour with him? Where was his old lady and why the sudden concern? I'd rather die jerkin off than to be labeled a suicide. But then again suicide adds much more to the mistique and legacy, (and bank accounts), now doesn't it? Sad all the way around either way.

I don't know how much of last night's show you can tell if anything is wrong cuz of energy? Soundgarden live have always been boring. Even when they were younger. They just stand there majority of the time.

I've been listening to Chris's solo stuff today cuz I've never heard it. Higher Truth is pretty solid. Good vocals and writing for that style.

Louder Than Life, indeed!!!

This started it for me.

The whole Soundgarden catalog, Euphoria Morning, Audioslave... what a voice and artist.

Sometimes people can have something going on that people are clueless about. Look at Robin Williams. He gave off this vibe and was struggling inside.

I watched a bunch of Chris Cornell videos today and you almost forget everything he has accomplished. Soundgarden alone would be enough but then you add Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, solo stuff, etc. and just blows your mind. People also forget he was roommates with Andy from Mother Love Bone and all of those songs on Temple of the Dog were a result of his death. So many of those songs I listened to today were creepy because they almost sounded like cries for help. Just sucks.

I still think "Rusty Cage" is the best song out of the bunch. :)

Crazy. All the great grunge era singers are dead.

Fixed... :D

This is the one that floors me on taking it to the limit..

So much amazing stuff on Louder Than Love. I remember hearing Hands All Over on the radio in Boston and it was the most epic combo of Zeppelin and Sabbath and still new sounding. It still sounds incredible today.

Love Soundgarden and Cornell. Am a fan of pretty much everything he's done really, but especially Soundgarden and Audioslave. I saw them in KC Sunday night, band sounded great and CC sounded absolutely phenomenal! Several of us commented that he sounded as good if not better than he did back in the day. He also seemed more upbeat and energetic than he did in this Detroit video but who knows. Either way, huge loss.

Not a really a Soundgarden guy, I like whats songs I've heard but something about Rusty Cage rubs me the right way. His vocals was damn amazing, I wish I could sing like that. RIP

Kind of long vid, but heartfelt with some really nice stories.

Crazy. All the great grunge era singers are dead. Eddie Vedder is the only one left.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, and now Chris Cornell.. Hard to comprehend really about Chris as I am in total shock!

Was also thinking about this earlier today. Those were the 5 biggest bands of that era and only one front man remains.

Not as well none but don't forget Shannon Hoon from Bling Melon as well.

Got to love the flood of tribute on MTV and VH1 to only one of the greatest rock voices of all time and to have performed in our current generation.

Good points. Mental health issues are soo underdiagnosed, because people ignore what might be going on with themselves.

Rusty Cage and Room a Thousand Years Wide are my fav Soundgarden tunes, Temple of the Dog is AMAZING front to back.

2 unforgettable shows for me are both Soundgarden and AIC, a year apart but at First Ave in MPLS. Small but awesome venue.

RIP CC.

Yeah. Kind of crazy to think that Cornell is more or less responsible for the formation of Pearl Jam as a result of him pulling Temple of the Dog together.

Wasn't Temple of the Dog the remains of Mother Love Bone after Andrew Wood's death? Though I do think that Cornell was the main driver of getting the project going. Fans of Pearl Jam, Cornell, and Temple of the Dog should definitely listen to Mother Love Bone's Apple if you haven't already. Great great album. Tragic that Wood died such an early death. So many of these guys carried such demons with them.

Mother Love Bone was Pearl Jam with a different singer. In between singers they called themselves Green River. I did a few gigs with them when they were Green River. A few of the members changed over the years.

The entire rock music scene in Seattle in the 80's was made up out of less than 200 people. Everyone pretty much knew everyone. It was that small.

Larry Brewer was my best friend then. He was the guy that was recording everyone. When the Seattle music broke worldwide the entire thing happened around 25 people. If Chris did not marry Suzanne you probably would have never heard of Sound Garden. I drank beer with Kim plenty around that time.

I remember how cool it was to have someone in a newer band to show range and dynamics in their voice at that time, around '90/91. It was becoming the norm to not have singers with range and God forbid they sing in higher registers, that would be too metal...lol
Chris was a supernova on the Mic and really helped Soundgarden forge a unique sound.
