Yikes! o_O Sorry, that's a bummer.
Guessing on a return that they're just going to "fix" it/repaint it and put it up for $8k.
Pretty sure these mod shops are returns to begin with.
If you send it back, make sure to record the serial and fingerboard grain pattern in case it pops up again.

Ugh man, that’s brutal. That’s exactly the reason why I hate shipping stuff. So sorry….

Carl Meine at Dave’s Guitar will get that straightened up if you go that route. Straight up wizardry

That also shows the lack of care by UPS. Even marginally more care would’ve avoided this.

I had a friend that used to work at a UPS sorting facility for almost 20 years. He said about 90% of the guitars that came in there were literally thrown as far as they could onto the conveyor belts while unloading as the dudes were laughing about it. No fucks given at all. The boxes all had caution and guitar stickers on them so the employees knew it was somewhat delicate but thought it was funny. Since my friend played guitar he said seeing this used to get under his skin so much.

^ That's way fucked up. Do they not have cameras in these facilities.

Right The lack of care across the board is definitely the piss off factor. The standard packing materials Gibson uses to ship were almost all absent here. It also looks like it was either dropped from a great height or something heavy dropped right on the side of the box and caved the front in. That also shows the lack of care by UPS. Even marginally more care would’ve avoided this.

I was going to say, I could understand with a $500 guitar but honestly, no instrument should go out that badly packed.

I think they did but complaints were never reviewed. The workers are part of a big union and it was kinda hard to get fired from there. The only time I heard him mention people being fired was for stealing packages.

I would get your money back and go to a store with Custom Shops you can see and play before buying.
I would never keep that guitar no matter what kind of discount.

Yup...return that piece of shit and make Gibson deal with it. Perhaps if they packed it properly then it may have absorbed much more of the impact. Try before you buy to help mitigate risk.
