Great tones Nick and Matt. Great sounding song. I really like this. If I were producing I would alter the EQ on the snare a little, it's honking somewhere maybe in the 200 area. I'd dip that. Then I would cut the crunch rhythm after the middle break at 2:32 and then add it back in after the backwards guitar at 2:46. Add some additional clean guitars in that middle part, lots of delay, sparkle city. Then you need something at 3:34 in a higher frequency/octave up area during the part where the drums go double time. Give it some sparkle on top, maybe mirroring the part you added to the clean guitar in the middle break. ;)

Or just leave it alone and do what your doing, cause that's cool too!!!! :rock:

Great minds think alike, Tommy! :D

We're nowhere NEAR done with overdubs. We're doing some outro octaves, more ear candy, etc.

And the snare is totally raw. I gotta do a high-pass and mid EQ and the whole 9 yards on it. It was 11PM and me and matt just wanted a quick MP3 to share, so we bounced it as-is.

What's very cool is it sounds great RAW ... so just imagine after you get into the overdubs and production. It'll just get better. You have a winner there fellas!

What kind of room do you track drums in? They sound very nice.

You are obviously an experienced mix engineer. You know how to get what you want from the source.

You should always strive for guitar tones that are void of post-processing. You don't need it when you have a good amp and know how to place a microphone.

I like the guitar tone. It suits the song very well.

I can't wait to hear this track when it's finished. My only criticism is that the rhythm riff can get repetative.

Me too, be sure and post the next rough mix too. I love it. Yea that repetition will smooth out once you get the rest of the candy on it. That's why I was thinking a break in that riff and drop it out at 2:32 section.

Too much of a good thing? :D :lol: :LOL:

I think that most "pop" songs, without the lyrics on top, can sounds really repetitive, and this one's no different. The riff is a good bed for the vocals to rest on.

Nick I wanted to tell you. I woke up Saturday morning and I was hearing your bands song in my head. That's cool because I had not heard it in a couple of days. That is a very good thing. That riff, it's very Steve Stevens. Love that.

Tommy, the good news is that I dont think Nick knows who Steve Stevens is. Because if he did, hed probably be upset that you think the riff sounds 80s. I, however, think this is a huge compliment, so thanks!

LOL. Gotta love Steve Stevens....some killer riffs he wrote w/ Billy Idol!!! :)

Matt, bro, dude... come on... I know who Steve Stevens is!!!!!! And Tommy, YES, that is a huge compliment!

I think the fact that it stuck in my head is big too. I always know when I've written something good cause I don't forget. I figure if I forget well ... I think you get the idea.

Love SS. OOOO yea put some radical ray gun sounds and whammy tricks. {Totally KIDDING :D }
