Does anybody know what the best Intellifex's were? I was talking to Ron from RJM and he said "one of the old intellifex" would be a good budget fx-processor to get.

Not sure which one he meant though?

Let me know.

Black face or the Repliflex. The Repliflex also can switch amp chanels for what thats worth.

The original, LTD and Online are all perfectly fine. The Replifex/MultiValve doesn't sound quite as good, but it's a lot more versatile.

I have the original back face and the silver ltd. They both are great. They don't suck tone the the G major. I love the old models.
You'll be happy with any of them.

RSP Intelliverb is the best one, longer delays than the Intellifex, lush chorus, Jar of Flies, Dean Deleo what more is there to say?

It's also like 3 times the price. You can find an Intellifex for a little over $100 if you look hard enough. Most Intelliverbs are $300+.

On the Intellifex the earlier ones were made in the USA, that later ones I think were junk. I think the Intellifex "On Line" was one of the better quality ones? Not sure?

Nope. All of the Intellifex units were made right here in the USA except the black and gray faced Online model.

Don't entirely agree with this. The Intellifex was made to sound hi-fi, whereas the Replifex was designed to replicate the sound of lower-fi classic stompboxes, such as the Phase 90. Two completely different beasts that shouldn't really be compared to one another.....apples to oranges.....

Yeah, the Intellifex was a Chorus/Delay/Reverb hi-fi colorless processor.

The Replifex was originally intended as an analog stompbox modeller basically. It had more effects like phase and flange, and EQ, but it cut out some of the performance of the delay/reverb.

I have an Intellifex online. It was like 80 bucks. Does a good job and is very transparent. I just use the factory presets and adjust a little from there.

I've had the black face and have the XL. I'd say they're all good, but the XL has some extra delay memory and EQ options. I got it for a good price, and highly recommend it IF you can find one for a good price. A regular intellifex, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for. The XL is good for $150.

Supposedly the original blackface Intellifex is the best one, I suppose it might mostly be internet hype.

The Replifex/Multivalve family is something very different and more basic, they are however true multi-FX units where the Intellifex really only does one or two things at a time depending on which program you load up. There´s nothing in the Replifex that can come close to the 8-voice chorus program in the Intellifex, though, which probably is the best thing Rocktron ever produced.

The secret to all the Rocktron units is that they have analog dry if you keep the Hush off, which make them miles cleaner than something like a G-Major.

Yup. Hush off, sounds as good or better than any G major I've tried.

I had the blackface, LTD and played the "online" version. I preferred the LTD the most. Keep in mind that these unit sound good, but nowhere near as good as units slightly more expensive. I sold my replifex for $200 and both blackface and LTD units for under $150.

Yeah, I don´t think I´d use an Intellifex for anything except the 8-voice, if compared to even a modest unit like the Lexicon MPX1 which does more and sounds better.

I've owned them all and the Blackface is the one to go for. I've had mine since I bought it new back in 1993. Never failed, still great sounding (the 8-voice Chorus is awesome) and doesn't color the sound as the other Intellifex's do.
