MURDERATOR
For some reason he keeps popping up on my YouTube feed…. Dude is a pretty underrated guitarist I think. Even though he’s not shredding, the solo on shout is an absolute perfect example of melody and keeping it in the pocket. I remember when I was a kid with the advent of mtv and the breakfast club movie. They were a pretty popular band for awhile. Anybody else remember tears for fears? Jesus…. Can’t believe I just made a post about them….going to listen to Pantera immediately.

Weirdly, I noticed some of his guitar playing for the first time a few weeks ago. I've heard the songs for years, but never payed any attention whatsoever to the guitar playing for whatever reason. I can't even remember what song it was but I remember thinking how the solo was really melodic and well-written. I'll have to go listen to some more of their stuff and pay more attention to the guitar.

They’re a great band (or songwriting duo). But I’m also a lover of late 70’s/early 80’s synth pop and new wave so I dig their album The Hurting a lot too. The combination of a Marshall and old Roland, Yamaha etc synths is a wonderful thing.

Tears From and For Queers ??? How’s your mangina ??? Sissy…

sowing the seeds of love and elemental are two really great records.. production is killer. Not guitar records but just for the songs/music

I agree - great band. The Hurting, Songs From The Big Chair and Sowing the Seeds of Love are fabulous.

I saw them in Denver this past July, and they played a great show. I'd forgotten how many good tunes they have.

I played in an 80s cover band where we covered Head Over Heels and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I don't think Roland played the second solo in EWTRTW. When I played that first solo from EWTRTW at a gig, you'd have thought I had busted out Eruption. I think it's still the biggest applause I've ever received. I don't know anything but their hits, but man, their tunes have some depth and body to them.

Love that SFTBC Record.. Brings me back to my early teens..

Wrong band bruh. He was speaking of the band Tears for Rears.

I dig the majority of his catalog. I liked them better when Curt was in the band but Roland is definitely the soul of the band...or MEAT of the songwriting if we're keeping it queer.

About 5-7 years ago I realized I actually really love both Tears For Fears and Duran Duran, despite the Pantera tattoos and screaming aggressive music I write. Watching some of those live shows from the 80’s or just listening to the songs and hearing how fucking perfect it all is without a single bit of Pro Tools, Melodyne or digital editing can only demand respect from me.

Tell me this doesn't slay.
