It's also cool that people that could never afford a Bogner now can get into something he designed for much less. However, it can also "ruin" a brand name if you know what I mean. It makes the "Bogner" name alot less "prestigious" over time. I imagine something like this is a hard decision for a manufacturer (whether it be amps, guitars, pedals, motorcycles, wine bottle cork makers, etc...)
And again, I have no clue if any of this is true. Sounds believable to me, though.

Smart move if true.

Maybe 10-20 would be silly enough to say I am not buying from Bogner now while he sells a 1000 affordable amps through GC? Win - Win imo.
About Wine cork, during the 70s when cork wedge heals were big that caused a huge cork shortage and people revolted against other methods of topping the bottles True story.
I'm sure you know this, but in the business world, image or a "brand" is very important. Sometimes it's better to keep the brand prestigious and focus on the core customers and NOT go after the buck by developing "lesser" products to reach more people. The hard part is knowing when and when not to do that. I personally have no clue. I just summed up everything I know about it in one paragraph (which obviously isn't much!)
By the way, I work for a company that has one of the top 20 "brands" in the world, so this stuff is hammered into my head sometimes.
