Rumor - Bogner releasing "lower end" line of amps?

Sounds like a logical next step to the business model to me, step one was to partner with Line6 and use their name to see how the platform is received and step two use the Line6 manufacturing model to create a more affordable line to make some additional revenue for your line.

Smart move if true.

This is the first I've heard of it, but it doesn't surprise me considering what he said about the line6 amp in that interview and what Egnater is doing with the Tourmaster.

Hmmm - didn't work for Soldano with their Series II stuff, so I'm curious about the outcome.

I wish them luck though and I'm looking forward to testing them - if these products will ever make it over to europe.

I have mixed feelings about this type of stuff. From a money making perspective, it's a great move. It's also cool that people that could never afford a Bogner now can get into something he designed for much less. However, it can also "ruin" a brand name if you know what I mean. It makes the "Bogner" name alot less "prestigious" over time. I imagine something like this is a hard decision for a manufacturer (whether it be amps, guitars, pedals, motorcycles, wine bottle cork makers, etc...)

And again, I have no clue if any of this is true. Sounds believable to me, though.

The way some get around it is to create a new brand name and sell the products under that, for example Squire. Or you can buy a brand and put them as your low end like Gibson did with Epiphone.

On one hand you want to set people up to the high end amps, but you don't want the low end amps to suck, it can be a fine line to walk....

I see it this way, how many guys would not buy a Bogner now and revenue lost as opposed to the amount he can sell to people that would not pay that kind of coin or afford a USA Bogner.

Maybe 10-20 would be silly enough to say I am not buying from Bogner now while he sells a 1000 affordable amps through GC? Win - Win imo.

About Wine cork, during the 70s when cork wedge heals were big that caused a huge cork shortage and people revolted against other methods of topping the bottles   True story.

I'm sure you know this, but in the business world, image or a "brand" is very important. Sometimes it's better to keep the brand prestigious and focus on the core customers and NOT go after the buck by developing "lesser" products to reach more people. The hard part is knowing when and when not to do that. I personally have no clue. I just summed up everything I know about it in one paragraph (which obviously isn't much!)

By the way, I work for a company that has one of the top 20 "brands" in the world, so this stuff is hammered into my head sometimes.

Guess it depends on the product, some high end companies that dabbled in affordable stuff.....

Porsche and the 924....possibly the biggest POS they ever created.
BMW and the 318
Pella, Marvin, and Anderson all have cheaper re-branded windows and doors.
Robert Mondavi wines
Ethan Allen Furnature

They all still have that sigma of high end products that people covet but also have branched out into other lines without any harm :) Egnater seems to be doing fine with his Tourmaster and I still regard his USA amps as being some of the best but maybe I am just more easy going about this stuff. I have been known to yell about people calling their LTD guitars ESP though :D

Now if this is true and the product is crap, which I do not think Bogner would allow, then shame on him and yes he could very well damage his name and brand.

Hmmm. I have mixed feelings. As long as the quality is there and they sound good.

PRS was pretty successful with it with the SE guitars. Those are pretty solid guitars for the money.

Not sure how Egnater is doing with it. Bogner is more well know so they might have a good shot with this.

Would be cool if they were el34 .

with a dial that lets you switch , from 4 modes .and save 4 presets like the spider valve .

no effects .
Just Shiva clean, X-blue,X-red and Uber

I agree 100%. I'm not saying Bogner doesn't know what they're doing but it's a very hard thing to recover from if not planned properly....you're destroying a hard-earned brand reputation at that point.

I don't really care about their cheaper lines. If it makes them money I'll be only happy for them, I just hope the quality of the good stuff stays top notch & some new good stuff comes along too.

If they are talking .release in Spring and it is already priced and on dealer list .
Im thinking an annoucement in Reinhold's native land at the MESSE this month

Its a Bogner, theres no way it can be crap. I just wish they would make a 50 watt Uberschall or something along the lines of that. Sell it off for around $1000...that would be fucking prime.

I just hope they dont go the route of Egnater...I hate those. Theyre just like crappy bogners with a similar logo.
