just hope they dont go the route of Egnater...I hate those. Theyre just like crappy bogners with a similar logo....

Wow are you sure ?? ,

Yeah...I guess Im just kind of picky. Their cleans are alright but everything else is lame IMO

Interesting, but I'm not so sure how well its going to work. If they price a new amp to compete with the Tourmaster they're getting into used shiva range, how many people will be willing to buy a lower end bogner when the real thing is within a few hundred dollars? Price it any lower than that and there's the risk it may not be made up to par, and they might lose their boutique status. It happened with schecter, went from being known as a high end custom shop to being known as a cheap import manufacturer

The Schecter Exotic actually sound very nice , the pickups are designed by Tom Anderson and really they have a good sound for the asking price.

Still a cheap import. Pretty laminates and upgraded pickups don't change that. You will never here schecters thrown in with suhr or anderson. You will rarely here them thrown in with Gibson or PRS even

My Schecter sounds just fine, and plays great as well

a cheap import it is Not

I have one too, I'm not a schecter hater. But it is a low priced guitar made in korea, how is that not a cheap import? They're good for the money, but new pickups don't make up for the differences in wood selection and workmanship that you get from more expensive brands. They're never going to be seen as equal to a PRS or Suhr

This is getting derailed, that wasn't really my point. My point is that Schecter used to be known as a high quality custom shop, now they're known for producing decent guitars at relatively low prices. Not a bad reputation, but when people hear the name schecter they don't think "amazing custom guitars", they think "ok sub $700 guitar"

Bogner has the reputation for building godly amps that only rockstars can afford (to most people, not members of tgp), and that allows them to put out very high quality products and price them accordingly. If they put out a lower end line and its successful they risk losing that reputation and their ability to sell boutique amps. How often do you hear people talking about their custom schecters?

Hmmm - didn't work for Soldano with their Series II stuff, so I'm curious about the outcome.

I wish them luck though and I'm looking forward to testing them - if these products will ever make it over to europe.
Walk into the Line 6 booth at Messe.

Those look nice but how often do you see them in guitar center? I'm not saying they don't make high quality guitars, I'm saying the average guitar buyer will think of Schecter as a cheap import brand because all you ever see in stores are diamond series guitars. I imagine thats why they only sell those models in japan. As good as they are the average american buyer would probably just say "I'm not paying that for a schecter, I could get a prs for that much" upon seeing one

This is exactly the danger bogner faces, that they will become more known for their cheap models and the high end stuff will drift into obscurity

Yes, those are Japanese models. They range in price from $1000-4000 or so.

I don't see any parallel to schecter at all. Schecter went down with the 80's and have built themselves back up through cheap import sales. Bogner is a company at the top of their game coming out with a budget line. It would be much closer to PRS coming out with their overseas models. I don't think PRS is hurting.

As far as used bogner vs. new budget line goes, some people only buy new, and others only buy what they can afford at the local music store. There are tons of people that will only buy what they can touch and hear first which this new bogner line with the help of line 6 distribution might make much more readily available.

I am not saying it is not a risk for bogner but it is not going to drag down their name in high end USA made amps.

and from all i've read so far he is still not commiting his signature tones ,much like the spider valve .

He is giving a blackface voiced clean / US modern hi gain .and a Plexi/jcm800 .
So it sounds like he is still only giving generic tones as oppossed to the custom XTC or Uber vocings in the highend amps .

Im not saying it wont kick the ass out of many/any mid priced tube amps , but just as the SpiderV .I think expecting a XTC or Bogner Blue you'll be disappointed

Good point, you're right that its not the best comparison and that PRS has successfully introduced a budget line but even companies that haven't bottomed out can suffer. I hear comments about how crappy Ibanez guitars are all the time because people don't look past the RG 3xx series. It certainly hasn't killed the company name, and I think they're gaining some ground with the prestige badging, but the presence of widely available cheap line has definitely had an impact

I was just throwing that out there as a worst case scenario, there's a good chance they'll do it successfully like PRS

Looks like they're on the Bogner site now. The new line is the Alchemist series. http://www.bogneramplification.com/

Lol now the regular Bogner section has been renamed the Bogner Custom Shop. That's how they decided to separate their brand images

Warplanegrey has already seen this and is spouting off about the poor man can now have the Bogner name.....
