Salvation mods

after getting my Eggie M4 and RT2/50 amps I went from 2 slide shelves of pedals down to 1 with 4 pedals on it. the tone i was looking for is in the Egnater. :D

I hear ya. I'm still honeymooning with mine and I'm in love every time I switch it on! :thumbsup:

The thing about my dude is that he complains about the headroom in his Vox AC30CC. Isn't the amp THE most important part of the rig? He has an Orange endorsement and has only picked up a 2x12 so far. :no: I told him to run an OR50 A/B with the Vox. Talk about a killer setup!

On a related note this Salvation dude is apparently making an OR120 based module as well. Gets me :jedi: :force: thinking about it!

Just gets you thinking that ,is there a sound that the modular stuff can't comp,or at least get close!!Amazing what a couple of caps and resistors can do!!!I'm in :rock: :rock:

Am I the only one who thinks this clean sounds lifeless and the high gain fizzy? Sorry guys, I do not think this tone is good at all! The Eggie Vx flat out destroys this IMO.

I'm guessing it is because it is a direct recording with speaker simulation. I think the tone is cool, but I like the VX way better :)

Well as I said I'm more interested in the saturated tone. I do feel that some of the "fizz", as Eric mentioned, it was recorded direct. Though a bit of wool is an inherent characteristic of Orange amps in general. Understand I am not a fanboy of what I was hearing and simply putting it up here to breathe a little life into this forum.

On the point of comparing the VX and Mandarin they are completely different tones. The Mandarin is a modded Randall Tweed so the BMAN would be the closest stock approximation for the Eggs. I have a VX and love it but I wouldn't compare a Vox AC30 to an Orange AD30. They both are made in England and use the same type of power tubes but that is where the similarities end. That being said I am not a fan of the AD series at all I really want to hear their version of the OR120 as that is my favorite of the Orange stock.

Again I'm not trying to slight your opinion. Great thing about the mod series is there is something for everyone. :thumbsup:
 
I pretty much agree with what you said, Chode.

I HATE the shitty, stiff, fuzzy sound of AD30's. It was the BIGGEST disappointment I've ever experienced plugging into an amp. Pure shit. I have nothing good to say about it, except that it looks unique.

I pretty much gave up on orange amps. :no: :aww:



So, you're saying, I should try another model?? :thumbsup:
 
chode no worries man. I dont have tons of experience with Orange stuff, except the Rockerverbs I tried a few years ago. I actually liked their dirty tone quite a bit. But your post is interesting because I had been under the impression that Vox and Orange tones were close.

Anyway, I was just commenting that what I heard in that clip didnt sound very good to me. Schematically it might be most similar to BMan as you say, but it doesnt sound at all like my BMan to my ears!!!

Well Gene it could very well be that the Orange thing is not for you. The tone is certainly an acquired taste IMO. Out of the current production models I feel the Rockerverb and OR50 are arguably the best. I really hate using youtube vids as a point of reference as most are recorded with shitty camera mikes, but Rob Chappers' vids give you a pretty good idea as to what they are capable of in terms of the wuggy-chuggz. Not to mention he makes me :hys:




Check with B Sharp Guitars 260-459-6992 and see if they have anything in stock. You might like the Thunderverbs as they use 6550's but I think they sound like a bucket of ass.

Holy shit. Keith is a friend of mine, and I bought my Gibson ES135 there.

I guess I should go in more often. It's only about 4.5 miles from me.

Mandarin is based on AD30, because I wanted some vintage, unusual tone and diferent from other modules. So I´m satisfied.
It will be done some next tuning details, but main character remains. I have feedback from user of real vintage AD30 and he said that the AD30 vibe is in this module. And that was our goal. This is how I feel MTS system, not 100% real copy (this is not possible, like for example any VOX module without alnico blue speaker never can be a real VOX sound ;) but high quality tube sound with taste of original - this is my expectation from modular system. btw I have Eggie VX too, and its really sweet, but I don´t want to compare it with mandarin, why? I have both :)

First sample was done with V30, only because Orange use these, but imho V30 is absolutelly unsuitable speaker for clean/light dirty sound. So here is short showing with greenback and boosted....
