I really need a Rig Talk business card…
I couldn't agree more .....My thing with that stuff is this can lead to so many problems. If they’re that dismissive now, what else would they be dismissive on down the road, after money has been sent. Not a risk worth taking, even at a good price.
Just like you did, he could’ve sent me a link to that video or just told me to google a certain phrase and not wasted a second more on a back-and-forth on explaining it.
In doing so he also would’ve had off and anybody else asking the same thing.
Lots of tube pedals and mic pres out there where the it’s a glorified Christmas ornament or needs a backlight to look like it’s doing something.
people get real defensive of their designs ...... I totally get it .... but ... here's the thing .... if you put something out there ... it's going to get copied ... the pedal industry alone is 95% that .... so unless you have the grounds for a patent .... and the money to keep it .... you're going to get cloned or ripped off ... I don't care how much Epoxy you bathe your parts in .... all it takes is someone willing to buy one knowing they are going to destroy it to get the parts / valuesI’m not a people person. I’m advertising an old Jeep on facebook for my son’s best friend. It’s an old jeep and not asking much. Plainly described everything and said if the ad is up it’s still for sale. I get 10-20 messages a day asking if it’s available…. And the stupid questions….it never ends. I would say Skoora probably was on the receiving end of him answering about a 100 stupid messages…doesn’t make it right but I kinda understand…
The difference is I didn’t feel my question was stupid as he had not posted anywhere that I know of how he achieves that voltage on the plates. Even if he didn’t want to get specific (secret sauce and all) he could have just said it’s possible with something like “x” but mine is my own design. Just wanted to make sure the tube part wasn’t a starved plate gimmick.I’m not a people person. I’m advertising an old Jeep on facebook for my son’s best friend. It’s an old jeep and not asking much. Yeah you have one ready for me yet cracker? I keep forgetting about that one.people get real defensive of their designs ...... it's basically why I don't put out anything I've spent hours working on .... that is a original as a design that I can come up with .. I have 4 of those pedals ... the KWAI VIBE CAINE ( you know ... my Vibe you've asked me to sell you 1000 times ) being one of them .... that I won't put out ... there's two of each of the four .... my son has the twins
So I just stay honest about what something is .... usually I combine ideas ( pieces ) of existing circuits together to make one pedal ...
or I stay true to the original but upgrade the hell out of the parts and put my touches on a newer PCB layout
You didn’t ask any stupid questions bro… I was only describing my experience with the local tire kicking crackheads on marketplace…The difference is I didn’t feel my question was stupid as he had not posted anywhere that I know of how he achieves that voltage on the plates. I’m already over it, it’s just gear and there is no shortage of it…..and we got Wayne .
