Just bought a Mojotone 1x12, they frequently have sales on cabs. You can get lightweight versions too.

Idk what the prices are looking like these days but you used to be able to buy Carvin Legacy 4x12's for quite cheap and they are solid (came stock with either greenbacks or V30's)

Also the Carvin V3 cabs. Some are V30 loaded,, some T75, and some have Carvin's house speakers.

So this is the end of the thread. Go find an Ampeg V-4, preferably with square mags and call it a day for $100 or $300. Pull out the insulation for an experiment and be done with it.
Next level. Keep the chord and jack, just go find a mutt bunch of 16ohm celestions. All different, all beat to shit and old , so . . . wire them up!
Now you have not only the best sounding cab on the block, but the recording options are SICK and its CHEAP !
Bake on that recording option deal. That is simply the BEST single cab answer to all the wonders and , WAIT, can the Kid lift it ?? Cool, a hand truck goes a long ways to this. . .

Make the Cab as UGLY as possible, . . . make it so NOBODY . . . NOBODY . . . will EVER consider stealing it. . . .Perfect.
Oh, and when recording, make sure your MIC is not close to the wires near the dust cap! You want to be AWAY on the clean side of the cone. DONE.
However, if you want open back tones, just use whatever you get, tighten up the screws all around and consider running the back off to get super cool room filling tones. The Ampeg does not have an open back and will survive a ten story building fall. NOT the same deal. sooo, Bang for the buck is . . .If its free, take it. No Likey, Sell it.
Can you lift it? cool, now they are all cheap! Most heavy shit can be bought for ' coins ' cause they cannot lift the Fucker.
