Between Uli, Micheal and Mathias, who was the Scorpions best lead guitarist? My answer is all of them! All 3 have amazingly distinctive styles and each brought something new to the table.

I love this era Scorps.
I read an article one time where Uli claimed he only used a wah for effects. There is no way he got that level of gain without a fuzz.
Uli never got the praise he deserved in my opinion. Great player. Rudolph was buried in this mix for sure.

BIG difference being mike and richie were wise enough to leave the singer alone with the mic duties, and not demand lawrence welking an unusually sinus infected german jimi improv in the middle of a metal concert, thus risking turning the whole enchilada into the muppet show.
