Hy Crew,

Just reaching out to those that have/are using one. I can garb one from the early 90's and would like to know what your thoughts are. Thanks in advance and  on!

Not very high output. I had one in my ESP Skull and Snakes but swapped it out.

They're designed to be played through a screaming amp at loud volume. That's where they shine.

+1 to what AndyK and Fuego said. Basically all you need to know right there.

Having said that I love it.

If you dig the rhythm tones on the Lynch Mob Wicked Sensation album, that's the pickup that was primarily used.

It will definitely kick some butt if your amp is up for it , I've went between it and say the JB and there wasn't a big difference in output at all . It's very open with little to no compression , tight bass nutreal mids. The row of hex screws is pretty cool for tweaking . As far as the 59 comment I say it could be a more refined polished 59

Biggest disappointment of a Seymour pup i ever had.

Only one actually.

I remember I was on a trip to Florida as a younger lad with my folks and went to a really cool music store near Sarasota to pick one up. I was so excited to drop it into my guitar. Got home, installed and was instantly disappointed.

Was it Thoroughbred Music ? I used to live & play music in Fla.

I had one that was installed by a tech in a USA Jackson KV2. Yanked it out immediately. Wimpy pickup. It went back to Duncan per their return policy. I was told from Duncan it is the most returned of their pickups.

I was thinking the same thing as far as the amp. If I would do this, i would be running through a Mesa MKIV and a Diezel Herbert.

It is one of my favorite humbuckers and it has sounded great in every guitar I have put one in, including an ESP, a couple Charvels and a Fender Jeff Beck Strat. This clip is pretty cool here.

I have a few couple of them. They work well for me in strats that are alder or basswood. I think the name is misleading as people think it is hot output wise but its not really a high output pickup.

The scremin demon is a great PAF type p'u but i prefer the ARCANE Mr Scary version

That was a great music store, I had a guy in there, Chris, who I could tell him what I was after, and if he did not have it already, he could find me a killer used one at half the price within a week. I probably got at least 15 guitars from him, as well as Todd Langner's phone number
I miss that place

Not enough Screamin
Not enough Demon
It is a slightly tweaked Duncan 59 and it is a medium output P/U. The name is misleading. I love it and it has sustain for days.

I agree about the name misrepresenting what it actually sounds like
For what is does it is great though, take a 59b add some presence, attack and clarity and you got a SD.
It has superior note to note separation than a 59 and it makes a outstanding neck pu IF you do not like it in the bridge spot.
