I'm getting more and more interested in building my own pedalboard with a nice selection of pedals..... show me yours so I can have a good example of how to build a nice looking/optimal functioning pedalboard.

two questions:

1) in what would I need to invest to make the pedals "midi switchable" ?

2) for the pedals that need to go through the loop, how can I set those up from the pedalboard?

I would like to see some schematics of different options. Loop, line, power, etc...

I can build my own, I just want to know what all I can (should) stuff in there.

Here's my modest but pretty versatile one. Sorry, no MIDI. ;)

The TU-2, Micro Amp and Vox Wah are all in front of the amp, the EVH Phase90, MM4 and DL-4 are running in my FX loop. Four cables. And it takes two more to run the channel switching for my amp...hmmm...maybe I should consider MIDI... :D

But I don't think I've ever seen what you're describing...in most MIDI/pedal scenarios, aren't the pedals in a drawer in the rack with the backline, with a MIDI-controller onstage? I've seen people do both, but usually certain pedals were in front of the amp input, and the MIDI-controlled effects were in the loop...would be interesting to see how it's done...especially if it can be done without a million cables or a custom-made snake/loom cable.

Didn't the Lexicon controller deal (was it the G4?) give the option of running pedals in addition to the controller?

Yesss, a pedal board thread!

Here we go, latest version. Simple version with all pedals in line in front of the amp powered by the voodoo lab PP2+:

Same with an ampswitch I'm ot using anymore:

The DL4 will be replaced by an empress soon - I want to use the delay in the fx-loop of the schmidt and the dl4 is not the right thing for that - and there will be a polytune on board as soon as I can get one

I did use a lot of true bypass and routing switches to take pedals out of the chain - but I keep it straight now, way easier!

Here's my live board...
Homemade with cover (not pictured).

I have a studio board and a pedal locker I still need to take pics of. Everything's a mess right now and in storage since tearing down the studio (house sale).

here is my $20.00 board, $16.00 just for the handles   I had to split mine for a mic stand to fit

Here's mine, done up by Dave Friedman at Racksystems. Simple, but killer rock board!

Here are my pedalboards, nothing fancy but gets the job done. The first one I use with my mesa mark IV or Marshall 2553 (both have loops). When I was playing in my last band with my 2553, I would remove the pedals I wasn't using, which on this board would be a number of the dirt boxes. I have them on the board as I figure that is better than them sitting in a box. My 2nd board if for my Single channel vintage amps (Fender Brown Super, Vox AC50, and Fender BMR). Both pictures are slightly outdated, but are close.

I would also like to add a microphone mount, to put a pole from a mirophone stand. I got room above the wahs on each NYC pedalboard.

sorry for the crap cell phone pic, it's the only one i have of it after i put it all together. true bypass, except i used a boss line selector after the wireless receivers to buffer. theres a shure wireless receiver under the big board for back-up, i also had 3 usb laptop led goosenecks( hard to see in the pic) this was my last board/s but are long gone now. everything is racked and midi now

I can't really post my board as my pedals are in transition from board to rack shelf, but I can tell you there are a ton of loop devices that will give you a one-stomp solution for multiple pedals. Some are midi so you can integrate into a midi board to control your entire rig, and some are just effect looping devices to control all of your pedals. Here are a few of each.

You can use a GCX or RG-16(rjm music) rack switcher too, but you need a midi floorboard which will take up more space on your board.

damn you guys have some nice pedal boards and ideas. i dont have one but i love looking at all of them

Here's mine. Self made Road case and board. Voodoo Lab Pedal power under the top tier to save space. MPX R1 is controlling a Lexicon MPX G2 and channel switching an Egnater M4/Mod50.

Not much of an effects user, but I have a small board that I use with my Fender DecoTone amp (no loop).

pedalboard-1.jpg

Main board:
Korg PitchBlack -> JangleBox (compressor) -> EH BigMuffPi with ToneWicker -> TC Electronic Nova Drive.

I run this either direct into the amp or into a small board that has my DamageControl GlassNexus (on a board that fits under the amp stand I use for the DecoTone). I put a MIDIMouse on the main board to control the GlassNexus.

That said, I miss my NovaSystem and may pick one up again...I have an M9 that needs to have warranty repair done (the volume drop issue) so I haven't really done much with it yet. Hoping the M9 kills the GAS for the NovaSystem if not, I'll sell the M9 to fund the NovaSystem...

For my Vox AC15H1TV I only use a Boss AB pedal to switch between the channels; for my Vox AD120VTH (modeling amp) I use some of the built in effects, but I also use a DamageControl Liquid Blues in front when I use it at low volumes when I can't get the valve reactor working...it doesn't sound as good on the low watt settings of the built in attenuator (IMO)

Hey Reverymike, killer board man! Would you mind giving us a rundown on your board... what is the order of your pedals?

Im doing the layout right now. I still need a Buffer and wireless XDS for the board. Im going to change out the power strip to something nicer. Also waiting on a midi cable, Midi Solution 1 in 2 thru and Power supply. This runs into a Ebtech LLS and into the serial loop of the Mod50.

I might switch it out to run into the RMod100, M4 and GCX switcher. The only reason why I haven't is because the G sys will not control the GCX.

Nice board Brad! Did you ever get that loop section sorted out after NAMM?
